'Custody, this sure won't cause any problems with people like Valrin... Great Scott, why was everything so difficoult'

The ship looked brand new, its shining white infrastructure is only broken up by the yellow/black lines of caution tape and the red letters designating each individual bay.
Liam found the familiarity comforting, as if even if he was universes away from his home, he could count on sensible ship design to help him see that things could go better.

The giant cathedral spaceship infested by demons was hopefully going to stay an outlier, because he was probably going to need the Null just to traverse the entire length of them if they ever needed to be stationed there.

Making use of the retractible catwalks, he finally exited his creation since... well, since he launched from his old Archangel-class ship.
He tried to suppress a sob as he draped his labcoat around his small frame, the one that he always brought as a reminder of what he truly was under the test pilot suit.

He even kept the name badge, from before the bureaucratic mess that hastly assigned him a military rank so that he could pilot.

It was the one that told the truth after all...

When he reached the ground, Liam noticed that the other pilots had dismounted as well, standing near their machines, which was fair.
He knew nothing about how the Cerans' handled their MS, so he told the personnel around his bay to not touch the Null for now, citing special procedures that had to be done under his supervision, which wasn't even that far from the truth, before moving towards what he assumed to be Valrin and Daniel.

Of course, he was the shorted of the trio, with Valrin being a full head taller than him, but that had to be expected, as Liam was never the tallest man.

"So you are Mr. Haldentum and Mr. Sorenson? I'm Liam so.... uhm... I guess we are here now?"

Great, first impression out of an MS and he was already fumbling to find words, this was an horrible idea.

Daniel turned towards Liam, who was...somewhat shorter than he imagined. Also seemed to be kind of awkward, unused to the perils of social interaction. He couldn't really care that much, he's seen worse. Liam will probably learn to get used to it. Maybe.

"Yes, that's me, Daniel Sorenson," he said. "We are, indeed, here in this ship. It's...serviceable, I guess." Admittedly, Daniel might need to work on his small talk a bit more.

The sight of the Questor Lord in the flesh heartened the crew, reliving some of their trepidation and uncertainty as they began to fall in line to be examined and briefed by the Sunrider's security detail and medical staff. However, two members of the group subtly broke away to greet their saviors, and rather fittingly, it was the Junior Officer; accompanied by one of the Inquisitorial Stormtroopers that were the first to approach the foot of Ignus and awaited the descent of its noble Knight. Upon seeing them up close with his own eyes, the term Junior best described the highest-ranking survivor of the Mercury's Alacrity; alarmingly fresh-faced, with a degree of youthful, boyish charm that shone even past all the grime, dried blood, and stress that marred his fair features.

But his countenance, not to mention the very nature of his posting unsurprisingly tells not of some spire-born noble who was sent to a prestigious Academy solely to get connections and clout, but a true and dedicated servant of the Emperor who held no illusions to the weight of his own life over that of others. Fitting of his station, he stood at attention before the Questor as he descended from his Knight, waiting to be spoken to before speaking now that things can be afford to be formal.

The Stormtrooper with him on the other hand was a much more familiar and normal sight, as the middle-aged Scion, a man with an eyepatch-like augmetic eye whose face was a mosaic of scars and burns, each one telling of either a successful mission or ignominious failure, looked relaxed, exhausted even as he lumbered behind the young officer before coming to a stop right next to him, almost the complete opposite of the officer's attempts at protocol and formality with his laid-back posture.

However, Valrin could easily tell from certain subtle, familiar tics of movement from the Scion that his placidity was hardly that of an old soldier and that his posture wasn't entirely because he was tired, rather... It was closer to a swagger, the kind an alpha predator carries with it, almost exactly that of a resting Carnodon; a presence that oozed quiet menace of a regal sort and one that was ready to explode into action within milliseconds the moment a threat foolishly presents itself. Craning his head to get a look at Valrin in the flesh, the scion strokes his chin in contemplation before his lips ever so slightly curl up... It seems he likes the Questor's first impression.

Soon enough the Sunrider's complement returned to their mothership without incident, with the first of them to dismount being Asaga. Needless to say, her appearance perfectly matched her voice and personality: The cheerful pilot excitedly waved "hello" to the outworlders from atop a catwalk while her red hair, held up as a pair of very childish twintails fluttered in the ship's recycled wind. But it wasn't just her seeming youthfulness that made her quite the center of attention to the Sunrider's guests, as her pilot suit in the same color as her mech, was rather... Form-fitting. Sure it wasn't anything new to any of the three younger pilots as it greatly resembled the standard-issue fortified pilot suit but was seemingly less armored and reinforced or looked like one of the more experimental and higher-tech kinds seen in use with prototype VARGs respectively. Quite the odd example of convergent evolution in play.

To Valrin and the Mercury's crew on the other hand; the Asaga's form-fitting "flight suit" seemed more for titillation's sake than for protection. Such a scandalous "uniform", in the minds of the Emperor's faithful; seemed more at home in a pleasure cult with a bizarre fixation for military motifs or a death cult temple that regards the female form as valid a weapon as either blade or poison. For that matter, the suit didn't look like it could accommodate a helmet even!

The blue Mech's pilot was the next to dismount, almost glad that her wingman was drawing all the eyes away from her as she made her way down the scaffolding. Like Asaga, she quite literally looked the way she sounded: A dainty, demure young woman with short but neatly kept bluish-violet hair held with a simple pink headband. The only thing that prevented her from being the complete opposite of Asaga was that she wore the exact same type of Pilot suit, except in blue.

With the other two now in plain sight it seemed that Vicious was the next in line to present himself before the crowd... Yet after some time, his machine's cockpit hatch still hasn't folded open. Perhaps he was having some trouble with his machine?
So not only did they allow children as Knight Scions, they also mandated a uniform that was to be generous a cross between underarmor and the common garb of a Joygirl who owed money due the next morning. I highly doubted her physical ability to match a Death Cultist, let alone a Callidus, to make such a reduction in protection be made up for in agility and extreme endurance other similar suits are intended for.

At least the crew of the Inquisitorial team still seemed to have competence. This military seemed to need some discipline and guidance, best to shed down and talk to them.

"Knight Scions, I will leave you here now to go talk to the leaders of the Inquisitorial team that have represented themselves down below. I have a burning hole in my skull that used to be a headache, and talking to barley pubescent children in fetish gear in an open hangar I believe would exasperate that further rather than dealing with the realities of inter-dimensional transportation across time."

With that said, I turned and started down the ladder to talk to the two members of the crew who stood down on the platform below.

The silence hanged over their heads like a GINN's Heavy Blade, thick and suffocating for all involved.
Liam was sweating, his eyes jumping between Valrin and Daniel as if pleading to continue the conversation in any way...

Great Scott, was I so out of touch? When was the last time I talked to someone about anything that wasn't related to... uh...

"So, what is your MS called? It's a custom model?"

Familiar territory, he could do that, he built the Null and worked on all it's systems, so this was a sae conversation...

Maybe...

The appearance of the pilots made Liam stop; his uncomfortableness was forgotten, he became uncaring that Valrin decided to just stand and walk away with an insult on his lips and no respect for his fellow pilots in his heart.
All he could think when he looked at Asaga and Chiraga was:

"Great Scott, how old are you?"

The question came unbidden, his voice laced with a deep shock and sadness.
He was on the pilot seat because he was the one that built the Energy Source, a desperate way to gain back control of what he made and was never supposed to see active combat, but then why was the Ceran Navy making them pilot?

“It’s called the Aeolus. It’s a prototype of sorts, and I’m kind of its test pilot,” Daniel said. He glanced at Liam’s MS and while it was of a familiar style compared to anything else around here, he hasn’t seen that exact kind before.

“What about yours? What can you tell me about your mobile suit?”

Daniel turned to see the other arrivals, the ones who were part of these Cerans. They looked…a bit too young to be pilots, though some might say the same thing about Daniel going by appearances alone. In any case, it was an unfortunate reality that some were simply forced to fight at an early age.

Their piloting suits were somewhat similar in style to what Daniel’s seen before, though they looked to be lightly armored by comparison. Perhaps they were similar to the nanomachine suit he wore while piloting the Aeolus, though he wasn’t wearing that right now. Future questions for later, maybe. For now, he simply waved back to the rather energetic looking girl.

So not only did they allow children as Knight Scions, they also mandated a uniform that was to be generous a cross between underarmor and the common garb of a Joygirl who owed money due the next morning. Daniel just blinked at Valrin’s sudden display of disdain and saw him walk off towards the ship’s survivors. A sigh escaped him. He could have at least been less blunt about it. Speaking of blunt, Liam said his own piece.

"Great Scott, how old are you?"

“Maybe you shouldn’t have asked that so suddenly,” Daniel said to him.

Turning to Daniel, Liam's face lit up in a crimson blush, his mind finally managing to process what he said.
Trully, he didn't know what came over him, maybe it was projecting or other issues he had, but knowing that these... these... kids were going to follow them against who knows what.

He saw what these demons did to people they got their hands on, and he was going to upgrade the CIWS on his MS just so that they would stay away.

"I'm sorry, but... uhm... you know I was shocked. they sounded young in the communicators, but I didn't expect this..."

Trying to change the subject, Liam turned toward the Null, now fully deactivated and overall less vibrant.
He was impressed how the Phase Shift Armor could make even the charcoal-colored machine pop, completely in contrast to his own wishes when he decided on the color in the first place.

"Oh. Sure, yeah, I can do that. It's a prototype as well, even if it's built on an already tested technology to isolate the variables. It's easier to look for anomalies in the reactor if the overall structure is just a simple humanoid MS..."

The tone of Liam's voice gained in confidence the more he talked, his hands grasping the air af if searching for something to write with, wanting to write down the results of this test flight, even with the... uhm... exceptional conditions.

"That's what I'm testing on the Null, because if everything works as intended, I might have created something much bigger than a simple MS reactor core."

Another one testing out a prototype around here. The talk about the reactor got Daniel somewhat curious, and Liam probably wouldn't mind if he pushed a bit more.

No response from Shinkai other than crackling static from the radio, something must've gone wrong on his end... But at least the smoke and chaff began to clear up, except that their attacker was nowhere to be found, likely waiting for an opportunity to strike when either one of the Mazinger pilots lapses in vigilance.

The Pterosaur gets raked by the unexpected vulcan barrage and manages to perform a vertical dive away from the Wing Freedom before building distance, trailing smoke and flame as it flew off into the night sky, albeit with less agility and thrust than it did before, showing that David has made good progress in blasting this overgrown pigeon out of the sky. To give itself itself a better chance of pulling away and some time to rethink its next approach, the Wing Freedom's radar warning receiver once again plays out its droning alarm... However, something rather unexpected happens...

The Chaperone hasn't returned yet...

Oh, now you're worried about that new-type mammal mech.

Shut it and just crane our head over to the woods below. Not that I'll need its eyes shooting easy targets like this.

...Well, this is concerning...

What?

Our escort is gone and so is the new-type.

Radar then?

Deactivated it so we wouldn't give our position away remember?

Turn it on then. Not as if any of those other mechs can get to us before we blow them out of the sky.

It's... Well, they're both right above us, several kilos up. I suggest aiming at them. Now.

The new-type is a show-off eh? Fool, I'll... Oh shit, I underestimated it... It beat the Chaperone. And its returning it to us at mach speed...

Oh fuck, oh fuck! Shoot it! Shoot it!

Suddenly out in the distance, a flash of light streaks high into the air; hitting a distant target right above it, apparently some sort of comet with a greenish-white tail, creating a fairly sizable mid-air fireball when the beam of light struck the shooting star. However that wasn't the end of it as the comet seemingly survived getting hit by the beam moments later, the comet makes landfall on the hillside where the light pillar came from and was immediately followed up by a large blue-tinged explosion that was clearly visible all the way from the base.

Seeing this, the pterosaur that David was pursuing seemed to have lost its nerve and... Immediately turned around and made a head-on charge towards the Wing Freedom, firing its pulse lasers and railgun as fast as they can cycle, apparently realizing that its number was up; but without making it simple for the outworlder pilot.

Moments after the explosion, a crackled and very distorted radio transmission comes out on an open channel that the other defenders would easily be able to pick up on, the reception was poor; but it was fairly obvious that the speaker on the other end of the line was a young man.

"...That would be my doing. Ow..."
The fact Shinkai didn’t respond means something happen to him.. which cause Kane to worry but he couldn’t go and be a hero yet.

As the enemy went into hiding, he was staring around, looking for any opening.. as he then nodded.

“If I must use the heaven itself as a weapon, so be it!” As Great Mazinger would then lift up one of his arm, pointing upward on the sky, clouding the area as a heavy thunderstorm was forming.

Heavy lighting now sweeping the area, landing near him as he was waiting to see if he was lucky enough to catch the Gettersauras off it hiding spot.

"i don't know what kind of energy source your Suit uses, but most of the Machines that I have encountered use an ultra-dense battery to power the Armor system, the weapons, and the Suit itself. Nuclear power was considered, but there is a technology that disrupts it, but by studying cosmic radiation in space, where there is a near-vacuum, I managed to harness a physical phenomenon called Zero-point Energy. A source that is theoretically eternal."

He turned towards Daniel, pride in his voice as he continued the dissertation: "This is model GAT-X1000ZPE NULL, mounting the first reactor built from this discovery and tuned by me as its creator. That's why I am the test pilot."

Asaga seemed a bit annoyed at what Liam had to say about her age, beginning to open her mouth to retort his statement as she approached the group while Chigara merely stared at Liam from the distance with an indistinct expression for a few moments following his outburst before going back to her business, which involved a tablet computer that she had been heavily focusing on, likely containing the diagnostics of her machine. But then Valrin's incredibly harsh statement shuts the redhead's response down before it could even get off; the effects of which caused Asaga to give a look not unlike that of a kicked puppy and for her partner to look both offended and self-conscious, staring down at her flight suit and then looking back at Valrin, this time with a very incredulous look in her face.

Having made it painfully clear that the Knight didn't want anything to do with them, Asaga quickly shakes off the sheer inflicted awkwardness and decides to try and strike up a conversation with Liam; her mood slightly improving upon hearing him nerd out; much like a certain lilac-haired mechanic...

"So you're a mech scientist too huh?" Asaga inquires.

A bit further in the background, Chigara's stare fixates on the group as if she's also interested in the answer. Even moreso than her red-headed companion.

Meanwhile with Valrin, his meeting with the Mercury's commanders-by-default was a bit more solemn and serious compared to the "children", with the Senior Officer saluting the Questor and the Tempestus Seargent doing the same, though mostly out of thanks and respect rather than actual decorum.

"2nd Lt. Patrick Sorell, Mercury's Alarcity. My men owe you a lifelong debt for delivering us from evil."

"Sgt. Horace Cadbury, 2nd Thalassian Lurkers. I wish I could've seen for my own eyes you and those other Knights sending whatever beast that killed Laurentius back to the warp."

In utter ignorance of or perhaps marked distaste for courtly and military etiquette, the Cadbury presents his hand to the Questor for a handshake.

In utter ignorance of or perhaps marked distaste for courtly and military etiquette, the Cadbury presents his hand to the Questor for a handshake.
Finally, one last pilot disembarks. Patching through the communications for adequate assistance, Kazuki's VARG copacetically makes its way along the hallways of the Sunrider's hangar bay. Once the robot was put to rest on its allocated spot, the hatch slides open by partitioning in half and sliding away horizontally. The psychic scout hops out of the seat into the docking bridge, and calmly makes his way to gather up with the others.

"Ah, there we are." He comments upon coming across Daniel and Liam.

They were being reached out into by a blonde male of a fairly slender build. The tone of his voice was just the right amount of soft. That, along with his overall relaxed and slightly laid back mien, may give the impression he falls quite short of the stern and respect-demanding image expected of a supposed army corporal. Kazuki couldn't have been older than twenty five. His long hair was arranged in a single thread of braid that ends roughly at the length of his solar plexus.

Now the scientist was properly smiling, his eyes shining as he began to talk about his life's work.

Even if he was technically surrounded by unknown people, thoughts about secrecy were perhaps the last in Liam's mind.
Maybe he just wanted an excuse to talk about it...

So this scientist just stumbled into something that could be zero point energy? That concept was practically a legend in some circles, and it was a particularly hard thing to believe. Still, all of them right now are in a situation that can be called unbelievable.

“If you’re right about this, your Mobile Suit’s reactor would have quite a number of ramifications, to say the least. Hopefully you survive long enough to share your data.”

Daniel took another glance at the others, and saw a blonde young man who appeared to be in his early twenties at most approach them. The fourth one of their group, and he didn’t give off the impression of a hardened veteran. But appearances can be deceiving, as the old saying went.

“Ah, some more company,” Daniel commented.

David grunted, he had to think fast...There were many who'd do this same thing, and being ready for it only came with time.

David was going to hate himself for what he was about to do, but for a few moments it looked as though he was seconds from meeting the pterosaur head-on...Only to suddenly hit the brakes and fly right up at a 90-degree angle! David felt the bloodflow surge through his body as gravity pulled him one way, whilst his Gundam pulled him the opposite...If it weren't for the extensive work done to both his mask and the Gundam's cockpit, he'd have a concussion in that moment.

In the brief seconds it took for him to get over the initial shock, David aimed the Buster Rifle down and fired a sustained beam to let the dinosaur meet his end.

I accepted the handshake firmly, but not crushing. Decorum could wait. Yet at the same time I addressed Sorell.

"You owe me nothing Lieutenant, all our lives are the Omnisaiah's Upon the Throne. What his task for us here, first is ours to figure out."

Then I turned back to Cadbury, "That was no normal Spawn of Blood, and it even claimed a further Knight before it was banished. Likely for the best that you were not involved. However since we did appear at separate locations, it is possible that we came from two different points in our own time. What was the last Imperial Date you all remember before you were transported here?"

Despite the wrath of Zeus being brought to bear by Kane, all it accomplished was further marring the already scarred earth. If anything, with the Gettersaur's stealth and the electromagnetic interference caused by the Great Mazinger manipulating the weather, it appears that the attempt to bring the raider out of hiding was instead better facilitating its concealment...

"What's happing out there? There is massive interference that just showed up and its making it hard to keep track of the battlefield."

Oh, it's that Rayleonard girl, the redhead... Before this, didn't she say she would provide radar support and alert if she found any other incoming reinforcements? Perhaps she can help.

Having committed itself far too much into its attack to be able to react in time, the pterosaur meets its end with little fanfare, exploding into a fireball of burning flesh and scrap in the face of such firepower.

But David has little time to relax as a thunderstorm abruptly formed over the airbase, far from natural manner. That and if memory served him, he got an alert from someone in the base that another beast showed up to try its luck with the humans. Fortunately after that lightshow just now, he no longer has to worry about any railgun slugs headed his way.

Cadbury returns the firm shake in a respectful, manly manner. He truly does appreciate the Knight before letting go and allowing Sorell to say his piece.

"The year was 999.M41, during the 13th Black Crusade. I think, as Astropathic messages tend to have little guarantee of timeliness."

Listening to now the sudden radio call, and Kane suddenly remember her mentioning about support.. maybe surviving against the lizard soldier and the Getter caught the best of him, as he spoke.

“Stella, this is Kane, I’m trying to bait the enemy out, given I may have made this situation worse, but I think I can still pull off a miracle strike.”

He said, remain still, as two lighting would come down and strike onto Great Mazinger Horns; before Kane once again spoke.

“I just need you to pinpoint where he might attack to attack me, he probably thinking that I might fall for a after image or noises.”

"I see, I was pulled from 201.M42, after the end of the Indominitus Crusade. Quite a lot has happened in a mere 2 centuries compared to past millennia, even beyond Inquisitorial Censorship. Cadia Secundus fell, the Galaxy was torn in half by a new Eye of Terror. Only the return of the Omnisaiiah's Avenging Son, the Primarch of the 13th, as the Lord Commander of the Imperium, was the situation barely stableized."

Liam blinked as he noticed Asaga once again, blushing at his loss of spacial awareness, but he kept talking, the flow of thought firm and steady now that he was talking about something much more his style.

"Not exactly. I'm an experimental physicist, my doctorate was on the study of space radiations and the exotic particles only found there. This was most of an accidental application really, and I don't like creating Mobile Suits for the purpose of war."

The scientist placed a hand on the Gundam's foot, thinking about all the applications that his technology could offer, but that he had to wait because people thought they knew better.

"However, now we don't have to deal with fighting just other mobile suits anymore. Maybe I can help your engineers, compare notes?"
Finally, one last pilot disembarks. Patching through the communications for adequate assistance, Kazuki's VARG copacetically makes its way along the hallways of the Sunrider's hangar bay. Liam greeted the new pilot with a wave, the short scientist noting that they were the same age, even if he looked much more relaxed.

"Hi, there. I don't know if you recognize my voice, but I'm Liam, Null's pilot. I look forward to working with you."

His tone was polite, but it was the kind of politeness reserved for business situations.

Closing in on the incoming Mechasaur as she dodged and shot down its missiles with the head vulcans, it didn't take long for Helen and her challenger to get visual contact with one another, revealing the raider as a raptor with a pair of flight or rather a thruster pack on its back that was sending it hurtling across the alpine plains at several hundred kilometers an hour with rollerbladed talons. Opening fire with the beam rifle the moment she got a radar lock on the beast, the mechasaur suddenly jinks to the side a moment before Helen pulled the trigger, cleanly dodging the lancing beam before returning fire with a short burst of heat-seeking missiles from its thruster pack and then following it up with a spray of particle pulses from an arm-mounted rotary gun, that while individually much weaker than her beam rifle's own shots, more than compensates with a ferocious rate of fire.

The Gundam itself, and its pilot, did not let themselves be outdone by the reptilian raider. With a lightning-quick motion, the shield was brought forth to deflect the particle volley, its anti-laser/beam coating ensuring that there was the mobile suit suffered negligible damage from the assault, where the pulses created blinding azure fountains of cascading sparks to scatter every which way as they splashed against the Gundam's bulwark. The vision slit allowing it full visibility even in a defensive stance, Helen wasn't at all rendered unaware of the incoming missiles and with only a flick of the wrist, the shield lowers slightly, exposing the head vulcans and allowing her to blow the incoming projectiles out of the sky once more. All this while she kept her eyes glued on the raptor as it tore through the alpine plain, trying to find a way to outflank the white giant.

Focusing, Helen acquires a good lock on the thing once more and gunning the throttle, the Gundam dashes towards the Raptor with a terrific burst of speed, the sudden approach allowing her to get close enough to effectively use the head vulcans offensively, letting loose a spray of 60mm fury at the ro-beast, flaying its hide with bullets and even scoring a few hits on its thruster pack, but not nearly enough to do any truly serious damage. At this, the dino comes to an abrupt stop, using its wheeled feet as brakes; digging trenches through the dirt before it fires off a burst of rockets from the front portion of its pack and then following it up by blasting off straight towards the white giant with a jet-propelled leap attack!

"Understood. Residual interference is making it unclear, but there's a small contact just under a kilometer from your current location, altitude unknown. Wait, it's split off into two-no several contacts. Decoys."

Just as the operator said, the weaker radars of the Mazingers would eventually end up receiving several radar returns from above, if they were to look up, they'd see... Nothing but dark skies and if they strained their eyes a bit, very, very faint glints of orange, reflecting the flames currently consuming the airbase. Yet no sign of the Gettersaur, its dark coloration enabling it to blend in, even with those thunderclouds... Its a game of chicken then, the first, or last to react would be the one who dies...

Kane would stare up in the sky, it now or never, as he would risk it before screaming out.

“FEEL ZEUS WRATH!!! THUNDER BREAK!” As Great Mazinger Rose his finger and fire off a massive thunder beam like attack, that would go fly up to the sky where the radar last spike.

But then using the cloud electro field, the powerful attack would split around the clouds, causing a AOE where all the cloud would be shining blue, as Great Mazinger was releasing energy on the sky.

David's Gundam floated in the air for only a brief moment of rest, before checking his radar to make certainty of any remaining enemies. Swiftly, the Wing Freedom changed to bird mode, and set forth for the next enemy that burst in.
