I'm a Christian, and I believe there should be a balance between spirituality and earthliness, so I can understand Ruffles' sentiment here. If I were him, I would somehow find a way to separate his relationship with his friend and the romantic interest with the Church.

Easier said than done

From what I heard, a lot of American Protestant sects are.. a bit strict. And assuming that the girl is the same age as Ruffles, she might be looking to Settle down and in that case lifestyle differences shouldn't be ignored, not like we are talking about a ONS

Right that's sort of what I was getting at.
And to be clear, I was raised methodist. I can understand those guys. This is something else entirely.

Anyways he's planned a sort of mini-golf double date type thing
Unironically who even enjoys Double dates, I always try to understand how social butterflies work when they do alien stuff like that

There was this woman who tried to set me up with a young woman several years ago and I was too immature and caught up in myself at the time to care. I'm only now realizing my mistake and I want to try this again with her help this time.

Any advice?
When you mean "young", what does that entail? What is the age of the woman? Due to obvious reasons, you'll want to avoid seeing or dating someone much younger than you are right now. Even dating an 18-year-old can be frowned upon if you're 10 years older than her. The other reason could be that she may not be mature enough or experienced with relationships and between you and I, it would be in your best interest to avoid those types of relationships. While there isn't anything wrong with dating an immature or inexperienced woman (or person), the gap between immunity and inexperience could leave you open to relationship problems in the future. I am merely talking from experience by the way where I dated a woman that was 21 when I was 25, and it did not last long purely based on the fact that we argued a ton due to her insecurities which I did try my hardest to show her I was honest and loyal. It's hit or miss mostly so make sure you know what you're getting into before pursuing a relationship and it would also work in your favor if you both see eye to eye and are already comfortable about one another. I just started my 30's so as of right now the youngest I'd date is 25, which is still okay, but I ideally explore dating or seeing women who are in my age rage.

This woman tried to set me up with another woman several years ago. We're both in our late twenties now and we were born in the same year and even the same month. I was too immature at the time to pursue it, but now that I'm older I want to.

I can't relate, if anyone told me they know a girl I would pretend to not hear a word.
