Let's put this another way. Aurelian is the person in question being complained about for his conduct, and in response to this, instead of him being punished, everyone else gets punished and threatened with more rules and guidelines.

This is particularly nauseating because if someone sees the above, why would they expect said new rules and guidelines to apply equally, if an admin can already shrug off previous guidelines? You wanna lean more into punishing conduct even at the cost of games, but you've already kind of shit on this premise by not putting the boots down on Aurelian. You can't have it both ways, either he gets a slap on the wrist and you accept the occasional bickering between players (preferred) or you can go full totalitarian dictator. But if it's "rules for thee and not for me", nobody likes that shit.

At the end of the day, whatever we decide we want to do going forward should also apply to other sections of this forum too. I'll take full responsibility for not including other sections that are run similarly to how this section currently operates, but ultimately, I like having these micro-communities on our little forum here. I just don't like it when some players take the fun out of the game by allowing themselves to insult others for how they conduct themselves in-game. Y'all don't have to like each other or get along with one another, but don't let it drag on into games here and play it off like it isn't what it seems because it is. I see it, other players see it, hell, even newcomers see it lol.

The fact of the matter is, I'd like for us to all come together and figure out how to make this entire section operate with some standards and a clear guide to conduct and punishments that fit well with the way Mafia is played as a whole.

As a matter of fact, we have an entire thread I created addressing both of my points, but are we truly following any of these points? Not really lol.

I think the bolded deserves to be challenged as well. I don't really think you understand the dynamics of the game too well (no offense Ral), so you assume that say, me and Poyser bickering is airing out personal grievances against each other when it's purely a product of a game environment. You should understand this because you're played yourself and allowed yourself to get heated, so I don't understand why you assume it's personal. Some players have a dynamic this can description be ascribed to, arguably, but this isn't the vast majority of hostile back and forths

I don't really see why it's necessary to micro manage words to the extent of banning profanity. I think we have a good idea as to which words are not acceptable - slurs etc, but there has to be an understanding that the environment by nature can get heated. We obviously don't want users flaming each other, and staff even less, but I think most of us understand where the lines need to be drawn. And, I mean, it's an admin who apparently doesn't, so...

As far as the OBD taking out their own trash, I don't really see how that's any different to here? We, as a community, understand when things go too far. That's why I raised my complaint regarding Aurelian in the first place. And the answer was that apparently we needed this thread to determine whether it's gone past the lines. But if the community needs to clean itself up more, then you can't also be reluctant to even warn an admin that has gone past what we agree is within the spirit of the game.

By and large, I don't think more legislation is the answer. If we can function within ourselves, which I think we generally can, then that should be enough. And when things do go too far, I think raising the concern with the higher ups should work too, provided, of course, the higher ups are willing to take action against their own if it's, say, an admin that's causing the issue.

In all seriousness though @Ral it does seem like we are on different wavelengths in terms of what the expectations of conduct are. I was wondering if it might not be somewhat of a solution if you basically gave the upper tier of control of this section over to @Dr. Watson and you yourself focus on other areas of the forum? Not trying to cause issues with you here, just think you might benefit from not being exposed to it and Watson does seem to understand both us and the game itself a lot better

Other than that, I don’t know how we resolve this other than continually going around in circles, with these kinds of discussions popping up when something happens that you don’t like. As I’ve said, I don’t really think we have been that bad and when stuff does get overly heated we tend to discuss it after the game and resolve the issues.

Like, it’s not been quoted in here but during the latter half of the most recent game, me and Ekko apologised to each other and worked together. We are not each other’s favourite person but it’s not like we want to be at each other’s throats. Me and Ultra have talked on discord etc and both understand that there are no issues there. As far as I’m concerned, these issues are resolved.
