So, I'm insane, and possibly exorbitantly stressed out by the prospect of the next 5 years as a doctoral student.

So I'm going to try to make a chronological respect thread for ALL Peter Parker's... 4256 major appearances, 579 minor appearances, and counting as a way to decompress when I have time to relax and feel like it.

I figure by the time I catch up that number will have doubled :hm

Who am I kidding, I'm never catching up :skully

Any rate?

Fantastic Four Annual 1 actually has an extended cut of the "fight" from this issue between the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man that adds a bit to it. Think the only one that comes out looking a bit better was Reed, kind of? He still gets his ass ensnared by webbing to end his part. I'll cover that next post either way, despite it almost definitely being part of @Endless Mike Fantastic Four Respect Thread on fanverse.

Once Clayton Cole/Clash goes to "crank it up a notch" and launches his attack Peter Parker/Spider-Man's Spider Sense warns him of the impending danger. Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2

Peter Parker/Spider-Man

>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 6-7: Peter Parker/Spider-Man vertically leaps high enough to escape a half filled water tank in one bound.
>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 12: Adrian Toomes/The Vulture is unable to shake Peter Parker/Spider-Man's grip around his ankle. This allows Peter Parker/Spider-Man to use his anti-magnetic inverter to defeat Adrian Toomes/The Vulture's technology letting him fly.
>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 21: Peter Parker/Spider-Man is strong enough to shake off all the "aliens" that had dog piled on top of him.
>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 22: Peter Parker/Spider-Man sends an "alien" flying into another "alien" with enough force that they accidentally pull the trigger on their ray gun. The ray gun is powerful enough to destroy the control panel.

>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 4: Adrian Toomes/The Vulture is able to fly from his hideout on Staten Island to the Heart of Manhattan in a few seconds. Peter Parker/Spider-Man's Spider Sense alerts him to Adrian Toome/The Vulture's flight as he "sweeps past". Peter Parker/Spider-Man easily perceives and reacts to Adrian Toomes/The Vulture.
>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 12: Peter Parker/Spider-Man's Spider Sense allows him to avoid the full impact of Adrian Toomes/The Vulture's swooping dive, reducing it to a glancing blow from his wing.
>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 12: Peter Parker/Spider-Man and his web are fast enough to tag Adrian Toomes/The Vulture and sturdy enough to allow himself up to Adrian Toomes/The Vulture's ankle to grab it.
>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 20: Peter Parker/Spider-Man dodges the lunges of several "aliens" trying to capture him.

>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 22: Peter Parker/Spider-Man is able to shoot his webbing with enough precision to exit through a small air hole in the cage he's locked inside to hit the control panel button that keeps the cage locked.

>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 7: Peter Parker/Spider-Man creates himself a utility belt to nest a "special miniature camera" in the belt buckle and hold additional web-fluid cartridges for reloading when he runs dry. He also begins work on his anti-magnetic inverter to defeat Adrian Toomes/The Vulture.

>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 14: Peter Parker/Spider-Man's knowledge of science allowed him to deduce Adrian Toomes/The Vulture used magnetism to fly and he invented his "anti-magnetic inverter" to counter it.

Adrian Toomes/The Vulture

>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 5: While Peter Parker/Spider-Man is distracted, Adrian Toomes/The Vulture flies behind him and hits him with enough force to the back of the head to leave him "stunned and dazed".

>Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 2 page 10: Adrian Toomes/The Vulture is fast enough to open a manhole, steal a briefcase full of diamonds, and "plummets back underground" before the "startled officers can fire". Adrian Toomes/The Vulture surmises he's so fast he'll be miles away "before they can even lift that manhole cover". He's already flown to the other end of town "a short time later".

Kind of funny to think the first 2 issues of Amazing Spider-Man back in 1963 had a number of hypersonic feats like Spidey tagging that malfunctioning orbital shuttle and the Vulture flying from Staten Island to "the heart of Manhattan" in a few seconds.

Just wondering, are you only going to catalogue feats or are you also going to include historical notes/trivia like I do for my threads?

Because for Spider-Man there is bound to be a lot.

Depends on what I have time for. Being real, I probably don't even have time to be doing this much. Of the chronological story, I'm probably about 120 issues deep of the... 4256 main appearances? That's mostly just because my semester hasn't started though.

I'll probably add it in as I go, but I can't guarantee thorough research when I don't even know how much time I'll need to be researching shit for my Psy.D :hm

I THINK I can get away with reading about 3 issues a day at my leisure and not have it feel like a chore (I can get through about 3 issues of Lee's wordy run an hour while saving pages that have any sort of feats on them). I might be able to justify about 20-30 minutes looking trivia up that I'd otherwise not know.
Because for Spider-Man there is bound to be a lot.
Lee's run with Ditko and Romita alone probably have enough for several modest discussion articles.

May I post a thread on KMC giving a link to this thread? Lots of people there would doubtless enjoy it.
Go for it, a respect thread should be used anyway.

Work in progress and all, I'll be interested to see how far I can get before slowing to a halt. :hm

Anyone viewing, feel free to throw your voice at shit like "Top 5 Feats" and such. I think I have a solid enough eye for measurable feats, but when it comes to more abstract shit like Intelligence or his more esoteric Spider Sense shit I'm probably throwing darts blindfolded.

First appearance of Venom is technically Secret Wars. If you cover that, make sure to get the feats of the Beyonder, Galactus, Doom, and other characters as well.

Of course, think the Spider-Man Chronological Comic Pack I found treats the entirety of Secret Wars as Amazing Spider-Man 251.08-251.19 before heading into Amazing Spider-Man 252 where he first appeared combined in tandem with Marvel Team Up 141.

Finding my more valuable Silver Age Spider-Man comics buried in a crawl space recently kind of got me back into trying this out at any rate.
