Then again the idea of a largely microbial/viral universe has been around for a while and makes the most sense to me.
Life is easy to develop, less so to go multicellular/complex and even less so to develop technological intelligence.
The Fermi Paradox relies on the notion that ALL life leads to human-like intelligence which is... certainly an interesting way to view the universe
But yeah microbial life should be widespread on a universal scale
