I mean, I think you can reasonably assume how most of the thread is going to react to a Watcher claim without scouting it out? I don't really think it's that self defeating to save a mate with a perfectly valid excuse? Maybe if you were the only one who attempted to save him in such a fashion.
No, this doesn't work - I'd only be bothering pre-positioning myself in the event that a Watcher claim would not change the tide. Then I'd be ready to bus. Basically, I'd done 90% of the bus work, and be leaving the final 10% until after he's claimed. If the claim goes well, I can move back from it safely and push elsewhere. If it goes poorly, then I can just stand pat. In no circumstance does it make sense to basically help get his wagon up early and often only to throw all of that away before I've even checked to see if his claim is going to be accepted. It's just not good play.

This is a fairly good point - think what is missing from Ratchet's play here is taking potential mislynches off the table, he can be quite obnoxious in this regard as town.
Hold the phone. I was defending Ekko when he was the top wagon. What is that, if not taking a potential mislynch off the board.

Like honestly. Ekko complains that I mediate between two town reads, I.e I'm not picking a side. Ultra says that I'm not trying to take mislynches away when I defend the top wagon. Like are you just throwing darts hoping eventually you're going to hit the target here lol

Can't blame not wanting to lynch Watcher claim but I do think if Ratchet's in consideration here flipping Soul is bretty good information, Saber is fine if boring
It only serves as information if you want to assume I botched my scum game. If Soul flips scum what does it tell you about me really? If he flips town, what does it tell you? You can make the scum case for both.

Theory: Ratchet has positioned himself very safely and where he isn't going to catch the fallout for anything that happens, but someone else of influence (ultra for soul, me for sparkles) will. He's framed this as trying to gain a read on us by pushing our wagons rather than having any real suspicion on the wagon targets themselves. But he also hasn't really pushed anything himself. His reads list was conditional on a sparkles town flip, for example. Here Soul claims watcher and ratchet backs off and looks for a safe landing on saber. I don't think he expects saber to get lynched, he just doesn't want to be part of a mislynch on the watcher. So, I guess I see it more likely he's bussing saber than the idea that he was bussing soul or sparkles. So of those three options (soul, sparkles, saber) I'd rather go saber. I mean ratchet would be my first choice but I don't see that happening

But even if all of the above is untrue, I just think saber looks bad lol
The issue here is that you assume my motivation for not wanting to lynch into the Watcher claim is driven by survival, when really, it's simply that I don't think the argument on Soul is so strong that it's worth potentially losing the Watcher before they even get a result. I think there is a lot more info from that slot tomorrow that could be useful, including whether or not they get blocked, their target, etc. I'd rather risk it then than before.

Could be. Some more points for my theory though:

Ratchet didnt stick around to sell the saber alternative

Despite saying he was voting sparkles to read me, he didnt have anything to say about me unvoting sparkles right after he asked sparkles to claim
I didn't really feel the need to say anything? Assumed you'd lost some confidence in the direction so it was no longer really worth pursuing, plus I felt a better about her being town anyway from her explanation for not posting etc.

Counterpoint: You'd prefer not bussing if possible, so that's going to be weighted into the equation if say you see Me/Ekko shouting full speed ahead. Also, while it does take your credit off the table, should go without saying you can reasonably defend yourself there. But yeah I can see how this would be a misplay if say everyone came together and decided Watcher was bullshit, just think you can reasonably anticipate that wouldn't be the case except for a few devout crazies

True but you also asked for Ekko's claim which I'm still a bit confused about. At least under those circumstances.

You didn't feel the need to say anything? So you don't really care what happens? How is this a defense? That's the case!
