Well I don't personally care about it, one way or the other, the only reason I even knew it was Saint Patrick's Day is because people on here mentioned it.

So this board was your first exposure to the holiday or traditional celebration itself?

No, it's just not something I go out of my way to pay attention to or celebrate myself.

Okay but I guess despite Northern Ireland being the closest part of UK to Ireland proper, I'm surprised Saint Patrick himself isn't big here. Is he?

He probably is for the Catholic part of the population.
As I say, I don't take much interest in such things but I am probably not representative of Northern Ireland as a whole.

I guess since you're probably Protestant (or some other religion or no religion at all), the guy himself is most likely irrelevant to you as a figure nor is anything associated with "Irish" tradition in food, music, or culture. Probably Saint George's Day is more relevant to you?

and according to Wikipedia, I just learned that St. Paddy's Day is also a public holiday in Northern Ireland too.
