I've played plenty of games with him and like Flower can attest, he doesn't usually react the way he did for suddenly getting wagon'd with 4 or 5 votes off the bat; in his town MO he would typically not care but previous years of mafia he would get day 1'd to the point of meme-ry that hosts would make him some kind of joker or punishment role for players keep that shit up

In short that + how he's responded since Gram shown up is rather flakey to me

Eh, he tends to be protective of his team mates, too. But usually only when he‘s already earned some Town cred beforehand. In the Covid game he continuously shut down my Ekko cases.
