Surpassing even my childhood video game icon, Mario himself, unironically. @King of time @Doronbo_Shirake

Since still not too many things are greater than Mario in terms of who I support in battle/powerscaling. Despite my enthusiasm for Mario waning a bit recently since a decade ago (I remember the Mario vs Sonic wars all over the Internet back in the 2010's).

And about on par with even goddamn Mickey Mouse himself. Another character that I actively support in powerscaling. Along with of course Bugs Bunny and other Golden Age American Toons.

sorry am I overloading you two with this info-dump?

No. Never watched Maruko. I heard her voice actress died last month like Toriyama. BTW, Golden Age cartoons are broken. I remember a small goat eating reality in a toon.
Here it is:

This is Chibi Maruko Chan:

Mickey and Doraemon needs to unite lol.

I mean Doraemon is pretty much the anime/manga equivalent to Mickey Mouse here in terms of both sides being represented for America and Japan.

Though in terms of iconic status and seniority, Astroboy counts, but outside of that, Astroboy feels considerably much less of a Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny style cartoony character and more of a cartoonier Superman or Superboy.

Japanese fans call Tatsunoko the Hanna-Barbera of their country.

So Tatsunoko is the Japanese Hanna-Barbera eh? That's an interesting factoid. Kinda makes sense. I guess Classic Toei Animation or Mushi Productions or Studio Ghibli is the Japanese Disney (or Ghibli could be more of the Pixar here compared to Pre-Dragon Ball Toei and Mushi Productions).

I also used to watch Superbook and The Flying House from Tatsunoko Productions. My Christian After-School Days.

Maybe. And we have Tatsunoko thanks to Golden Age Superman. The creator of Tatsunoko received a comic of Superman from an American soldier when he was a kid and decided to create characters and stories based on Superman's stories.

Superbook. I also watched it. The Christian version of Time Bokan.

And a female Japanese anime designer who used to work at Tatsunoko also did the character designs for my single absolute most favorite anime childhood of all time, whose identity I will keep a secret at the time of this VM, as well as another old obscure kodomo anime and that pretty much makes me want to explore Tatsunoko itself a little more.

"Maybe. And we have Tatsunoko thanks to Golden Age Superman. The creator of Tatsunoko received a comic of Superman from an American soldier when he was a kid and decided to create characters and stories based on Superman's stories."

So the Anime or Japanese equivalents to Superman before Dragon Ball existed. The Goku's before Goku.

Also, @Doronbo_Shirake I wish Anime/Manga had at least one truly iconic character for the medium if not the country's entire pop culture that was created around the time of Astroboy or even earlier...

That was actually much more closer to Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, or other Golden Age American Cartoons in terms of their nature, characteristics, cartoony reality-breaking abilities/powers, and versatility as mascots or icons in merch than Astroboy. Besides Doraemon himself.

Then we'd have a TRUE Anime/Manga/Japanese equivalent to Mickey Mouse that's actually more like Mickey Mouse in abilities and traits with toonforce and reality-warping powers and shit. Besides our favorite blue robot cat.

Astroboy as the Japanese Mickey Mouse doesn't really make me feel satisfied nor enthused by any metric.

Astroboy would be more like the Japanese Superman or Superboy before Goku and Gohan existed.

And Doraemon in a way feels sometimes a bit more like the Japanese Bugs Bunny to me.
