I think some people on the staff should not do anything involving forum policy. I think you guys are too close to NFs old cool kids club way of doing things and I think the prejudice against certain users myself included makes you all bad actors.

More than that, hiding the Roundtable was a sign that Ral cares more about appeasing mobs than he does genuine discourse, he had a chance to make a bipartisan version of the Cafe and instead created a back alley abortion clinic.

That was another bad sign.

As for the table I know that you know that this site relies on search engines right now to attract new members. You know that opinions like yours could be easily seen by bots and then the site would be blacklisted and crush our potential for growth cause of communist Google.

In terms of the News section, there needs to be healthy conflict in there imo and yet one side wishes to not see certain opinions. I disagree with this and have placed rules down to make reasonable accommodation for both parties to adhere to facts and to show those facts. Even with this done I'm sure your aware some people have continued to stay away from the News section because they consider certain opinions the opinions of evil people.
As for me, I leave it as it is now because I've created an environment that IF the left leaning posters want to contend they can but if they don't they can't blame the staff. It is their own cowardice not to challenge the opposite sides ideas.

The deeper dives that most people can't handle though? That's what the table is for. It keeps the rest of the section not only safe for bots looking for reasons to deny us our growth but also places the onus of the political "bias" in the hands of the members. Either they will learn to be adults and debate, disagree, and do so maturely, or they won't and they'll refuse to and thus one side will be the larger majority.

But whatever happens it won't be because of mods forcing it and banning one side like FV.

If you have better ideas on how to handle it then by all means. With all due respect the table is active but Jane and occasionally me are the ones that offer opposing opinions, it's the opposite of the Cafe and for the rest of the News we want it to be a place where both sides can debate each other maturely and strictly with facts or fact based opinions.

The Roundtable isn't active because it's a hidden section that no one knows about except the few people online when it was created. It can't grow unless you expand who can view it.

Btw in terms of mandates there was precedent set during the Spanish flu. The courts interpretation was that ones freedom goes as far as it contradicts another.
