I don't mind if they're salty because they like Ilja better than Jey (I do too for the record). I don't mind people saying that Ilja is a better in-ring wrestler than Jey (he absolutely is). Simon basically summed up why this is stupid nicely. It would be one thing if Ilja got squashed in two minutes by Jey but that is the furthest thing from what happened and other people are just ignoring the position Jey is being booked in right now by just calling him a "tag team guy" and having a kneejerk reaction. The mere fact that WWE made sure people who hadn't seen NXT knew that Ilja is one of the few people who has beaten Gunther in the past does a lot to protect him going forward. Basically as long as he gets back to winning following this, it isn't going to hinder him much if at all. Give it a month or two or three for the Sami vs Gable feud to end and I could see Ilja challenging him for the IC title, even if just to spite Gunther who he's already having stare downs with by beating Sami where he couldn't. Gunther then gets his jimmies rustled as a result and this could be the impetuous for the two to have a PLE match at Clash in Berlin/Survivor Series etc. Point being...

The French crowd were fucking awesome the whole show. Then continuing to sing Cody Rhode's theme for several lines even after the music stopped, or giving Jey effectively the firefly treatment with their mobile phone lights during his entrance was some top tier audience participation. I'm especially glad the latter seems to have caught on 'cause it adds a lot to Jey's entrance and frankly shows how over he is.

Seeing people bitch about Jey Uso beating Ilia Dragunov as if it "kills his credability" or ruins his momentum to go toe to toe with a guy who is not only in the midst of a main event push, but is also the most over guy who is consistently on Raw and only BARELY lose. :kobeha And while I'm not saying Jey is amazing in the ring or anything like that, anyone saying that he sucks or is "garbage" in the ring clearly has not watched enough wrestling 'cause I've seen way worse than Jey get pushed way harder when they weren't HALF as over as Jey is. Jey is "fine" in the ring. My only criticism would be to change the Uso Splash to a different top rope move to make him more distinct from his brother, other than that he's perfectly servicable.

You took the post down but Soul Reaper Aizen vs RG Byakuya Kuchiki is largely in the latter's favor as by that point, he is superior in basically every stat, has a massive AOE with Senbonsakura Kageyoshi which lets him both attack AND defend at the same time as a sort of psuedo-counter to Kyouka Suigetsu. Naturally being able to fuck with his senses is still a large advantage and Aizen could still win but I think Byakuya is probably his closest match (with KS in play anyway) in that he has the tools to (IMO) win more often than not, without it being a foregone conclusion like with Soul Reaper Aizen vs Adult Hitsugaya where the latter would just freeze and negate KS completely.

Smackdown needs to get their shit together with these King and Queen of the Ring Matches, they've had one good one so far in Randy Orton vs AJ Styles, meanwhile Raw (to quote Sheamus) keeps giving us BANGER after BANGER after BANGER after BANGER. I get Smackdown has less time to work with so we'll just have to see come this Smackdown how much better they do with more time to commit to the Quarter Finals matches. Randy vs Carmelo and Bianca vs Tiffany should at least be good. Also can someone tell Iyo-Chan that she's meant to be a heel and that she shouldn't be playing to the crowd as much as she does, or at least should do so in more of a heel like manner? Either that or turn her Babyface, she basically got to be one for the Shayna match and consistently gets cheered so I don't see why not. The only issue I see with it is that Raw is seriously lacking when it comes to female heels so yeah.

Hey I ain't against Randy winning, especially with how they're emphasising that King of the Ring is pretty much the only thing he's never won, I'm just typically more in favour of building up the younger guys. But yeah Gunther definitely isn't going over clean when he already needed interference against Sheamus in Round 1. Agreed and I could see it for Mania if they're going to be doing Rock vs Roman (as opposed to Rock vs Cody) as a cap off to the inevitable Bloodline Civil War that's coming, though I hope Cody vs Randy is for the title.

I agree Though Gunther is on Raw so he'd probably still be going after the World Title rather than Cody anyway. Hopefully they have Randy go back to being a full on heel, even if it's only for THIS feud. We need Cody to go toe to toe with full on psychopath heel Randy to get the most out of it.
