Dunno what i'd call it, but the events of Betrayal contradict the history of the other two games. Like, first of all , the game is set in a modern setting judging from the weaponry and armor that the Brimstone society soldiers wear, so canonically, it probably takes place between the events of 1 and 2. All good. The problem comes from the fact that Kagan is alive without the Vesper Shard infused in him and also with the fact that he is killed at the end of Betrayal which doesn't explain how he's alive again in 2 with the Vesper Shard infused in him which is established that it was used on him back when he was blown to bits by the Proffesor Termaine in one of the cutscenes in 2 back in the forties/fifties as he Nazis were still active. Another issue stems from the fact that Brimstone turns on Rayne in Betrayal which contradicts the fact that they still work together in 2 and only decide to kill every vampire, Rayne included at the end of two. Now, you could say that it's a sequel...
