Sephiroth isn't neurodivergent, he's a chimera of a human and a planet eating monster god hopped up on magical drug juice :kobeha

Wait Was Legendia the one with STELLLLLAAAAAAA in it 🤔 Oh shit I remember now The dude had an existential crisis over his dead girlfriend who wasn't dead but then actually was And then the female lead had an existential crisis over the MC not immediately getting over said dead girlfriend who was also her sister The entire third act was the two of them being really weird about their relationship and also humans are aliens and the fish people were salty and I just remembered why this is the only Tales game I finished that I never replayed :skully

Was Legendia that bad? I played it several years ago and remember thinking it was okay aside from not being a fan of the 2d fighting. Also the second half of the game being voiceless was weird :mhm

That sucks, man. :catsad I missed some of that shit too but it was obvious why they were moving some of it around like that, and they added more than enough to make up for it. Kinda makes me glad I never bothered to interact with the larger tales community, nothing'll kill interest in a franchise faster than finding out a bunch of people who also like the franchise are unapologetic assholes

I tried Zestiria, didn't click with me despite the Armitization mechanics seeming fun. Also the story lost me pretty early on. Beseria I never bothered with because of it having Zestiria as luggage. I think the last game I finished before Arise was actually Hearts R, though idk when that actually came out (I finished it between Beseria and Arise so it'd been around a while I think) Despite the Japanese only voices the story and combat were both pretty good. Shing/Kor was an idiot protagonist something fierce, but it was weirdly endearing in his case. Dude reminded me of Goku for some reason :skully

Wait, were people shitting on the game? :whutpepe It's the most fun I've had with a Tales title since Abyss, and Abyss is basically my favorite RPG of all time

Sorry fam, Alphen all the way. Something about just a good guy fighting for freedom and friendship coupled with deep existential horror and genocidal guilt just does it for me 👌

New set because I finally got around to finishing my second playthrough of Arise after it got interrupted by me having to move and also maybe because I completely forgot I was using the toaster avatar months after the joke ended

That about sums up Buddha in the Journey to the West, yeah. The writer clearly favored Buddhism over the other two major Chinese religions....but at the same time it kinda makes sense "powerscale"-wise

I mean it isn't just some kind of position that others can replace them in or something. Its specifically a reference to what those three did at that period of time

In the first place, "Big Three" is not some kind of awarded position. It didnt refer to "the biggest three mangas", it referred specifically to Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece because they were all leaps and bounds ahead of everything else in popularity and sales for like a decade straight. It's not something to be inherited or passed on, it's just an indicator of something unusual that happened.

Undertale wasn't even trying to be deep, it was just "hey what if video game choices had the closest thing to actual consequence the developer can give?" This gave an entire generation of gamers an existential crisis, which is probably why Toby Fox wisely doesnt make public appearances

Everybody jumped on that shit after Undertale and DDLC.....even those games are supposed to be about meta commentary and had nothing to do with the whole nihilism/hope thing :catskully

Imo it's the other way around. The other designs look kinda messy to me, like they kept adding layers to his clothes. Isuka being the worst offender in that regard, though I guess maybe that was the point considering his role in the story was him being weighed down by the role of king iirc. As far as personality goes, the only thing I really get from the other designs is "white knight" from the first two, "king" from Isuka, and Xrd is back to "white knight" but with samurai vibes from the hair. Strive has the white and black contrast going on with the blue also representing his gradual Gear Cell corruption.
