Still a massive disrepancy between the stuff shown in the video game compared to this, but it's slightly smaller now. I don't think it scales either considering the mythic paths in there are way different than the ones in the TTRPG.

Pretty much, at the highest end it goes up to universal with the existence of the multiverse. Which is a fuckton higher than the tabletop RPG itself since that caps out at town/city level from casters being able to create storms, and MHS from lightning timers. There are characters who can go FTL with specific abilities or forms of magic, but that's only at the highest end, with the lowest end being relativistic. Even then it's not combat applicable, it's specifically only travel speed. WoR mythic paths are also a lot stronger than the tabletop mythic paths since those (in addition to gaining the aforementioned FTL speed) are merely just a higher end of city level. It's almost hilarious how much more impressive the vidya feats are than the source material :mjgrin

I could probably understand when you're reading each chapter as it's coming out, because yeah with all the focus on fights it does seem like it's coming out of nowhere. When you're going through the series again in bulk? That subtle stuff is WAY easier to spot. At least, most of the time it is :mjgrin

I'll give it credit, it wasn't until I started introducing the anime with some friends of mine that I noticed a few things that were clearly foreshadowing future events. You never notice how it's weird that Old Man Zangetsu appears to Ichigo before he actually gets Zangetsu itself until you rewatch/reread it.

VSB also has a big issue of its members misinterpreting the hell out of various series. Some of that was admitted to be intentional (mainly with Bleach, Devil May Cry, and now Naruto it seems) but others just seem like a blatant misunderstanding of the series in question or the hobby in general. To give an example of a series I bat for, VSB doesn't understand Soul Calibur at all, still having different stats for each character based on the different timelines (despite that not being how it works for 90% of the cast thanks to scaling off Soul Edge, and Soul Edge not working like that at all) and even then still only has them capped at moon level and supersonic. Which the speed thing is them being disingenuous on a level comparable to SB, but the moon level cap is weird because there's tons of evidence supporting the setting being at least planet level. It's even weirder too because they apparently know about the universal recreation statements from the Soul Archive and you'd think...
