We'll either be able to terraform other planets and fix our own environment one day, or indeed bugs will win. But unlike bugs, there's a possibility we could succeed in such a thing. Bugs may live longer but they can't solve as many problems as we can. So it's a trade off, a perfectly functional and sustainable society? Or one in its infancy that still has potential for more?
