Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 3: Laugh Hard with a Vengence

AT the moment none, the threads pretty crap because none of them have even posted any text/feats beyond suaron losing to a few people/radahn having a possible high end and someone complaining they're not using merp Sauron. Id argue it's not even proper downplay at this point nobodies tried to make a serious case/discussion of Sauron's abilities/feats outside him bashing people about in the movies/games. And the discussion on his status as an undead (Which...No)

I mean many do? The amount of times something is described as "Fast as lightinig/fast as light" and it's contradicted in the narrative...It's not exactly rare to consider a flowery description nonsense.

Tbf the highest end feats you can pull out of lotr are incredibly flowery and hard to discern. Trying to pull solid 100% objective feats out of the lotr books (during the third era) for the most part is like pulling teeth. Because the author wasn't writing a powerfantasy, he was writing a mythology and that leaves many things intentionally mystical/vague.

TBF overlord does get questioned on it's translations at times but thats mostly down to the Japanese maruyama uses at times being weird. Like some of the phrases he uses apparently weird even to native Japanese readers. (like the words make sense/it's not incoherent but it's patently a weird way to say the things he's trying to say) At one point he uses a word for a color that's so obscure the translator on their first run through literally just posted the color code that represents the color the author was referencing.

While true the fact it they can now kill dirt and air is an impressive buff simply because it's complete bullshit, it takes his spells to the point of working on things that aren't even traditionally "Alive". Countering it's easy though, outrange ainzs spells, resurrect, just be totally out of context for overlord in general ect. Why anyone thinks it'll affect some super massive god robot is beyond me.

Cosmic dragon emperor from overlord...The lizard that got his entire race turned into rugs for sweaty gamers cause he wanted to loot another universe

Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 3: Laugh Hard with a Vengence

Uh no? First things first everyone stepped over street orphan corpses they were all over the place. Second Ainz notes within the first book that he should feel something watching villagers be slaughtered that he should be disturbed by his new boney form. He moves on after concluding he's become undead in both a physical and mental capacity and we know this happens with other players such as the minotaur sage. We also suspect one of the thirteen heros was driven insane by his race. From overlord volume 1 page 117 He should have been afraid after seeing what his body had become, but Momonga was unmoved. Indeed, it even felt natural to be that way. from overlord volume 1 page 118: Right now, he possessed an undead body and mind, but there were some remnants of his humanity left. Therefore, even when he experienced emotions, if they surged to a peak, they would be immediately suppressed. If he continued on like this, he might end up losing all his emotions in the future. Of course...

It's alsmost like the bitter pills thread was designed to be a thinly veiled "Bitch about stuff I don't like or even try to understand thread" Like at one point a guy just goes off when two people are discussing the whole magical lobotomy aspect of the transfer that's inherent to non human players and how it'd affect ainz friends perceptions of the world/his actions because he seemed to believe it was somehow an argument about ainz being a good person https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/what-do-you-think-is-a-hard-pill-to-swallow-for-specific-fandoms.1067153/post-90627525

Not ghost but horses (TBF I wouldn't be shocked to find out they have soul sucking ghost as well but the main soul suckers we know of in cannon are the horses)

Did someone just want to abuse a fish? Like ignoring round 2 for a moment why?

Ainz was very embarrassed about it before his emotional suppression kicked in. Aura was upset she couldn't bridal carry him.

Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 3: Laugh Hard with a Vengence

Fair, ainz speed isn't great/amazing even in universe, he has aura carry him in volume sixteen because she's much faster then him even.

Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 3: Laugh Hard with a Vengence

And? They don't seem to be arguing about speed. And the exact line was it'd be difficult to dodge them all iirc. Though effectively thats not a major difference.

I don't really get why they're being defensive; death knights aren't that strong by overlord standards, they got one gimmicky ability ainz liked. We also know the machine gun is useless without an enchant being placed on it Ill throw up the turning to dust thing is in the light novels as well it's just not a feature of the rifle but a thing that happens to most undead when they're killed, they crumble to dust

Best was probably turning a level thirty priest into a potato by messing with his memories. Fear wise? Probably between ainz insta killing a bunch of ogres with his aura/turning hasuke to a sniviling animal (Who were of a similar level, though they did have some nifty regen he negates. the bloody things don't die when turned into mince meat) As for timestop? Timestop is timestop outside some serious deep dive into the mechanics Id assume you could resist if you resisted something similar. Simply because for the most part your stopping the flow of time, in a small area or over a planet whatever your doing has nothing to do with science, physics or anything truly measurable. It's magic nonsense regardless of how it's done I mean, your explanation is the two people that resisted were tough enough? does age impact their ability to resist? Ainz two hundred years into the side story was about the same as ainz in cannon. At a certain point time and skill are meaningless. Did either of...

Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 3: Laugh Hard with a Vengence

If you can't measure mental fortitude how can you measure fear? Kinda feels like a double standard. Fear isn't any more solid a concept then will. Though looking at the bleach character I don't think the range discussion matters? Unless I missed something it's not some planet covering super fear, it's a weapon that launches thorns that induce black sludge that causes fear that eventually kills. It's literally something I imagine a necromancer would craft for fun.

Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 3: Laugh Hard with a Vengence

Reading the wiki it really reads like an ability straight out of overlord necromancer/monster class. Ainz despair aura induces fear, insanity and death. Aura's pet godzilla induces crippling fear with it's roar that kills. Though the only effect I know of from overlord that could be overcome with strong will/peptalk is sebas killing intent (Which Im not sure is even a proper ability tbh). Everything else comes down to stats, levels, and resistances

Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 3: Laugh Hard with a Vengence

Im aware of how these things work, but fear is incredibly hard to measure resistance/power of because its an emotion. How do you measure it? The long term effects? Ainz fear aura can drive people insane and the only way to fix it is high tier holy magic. Is it the physical effects? Aura has a godzilla knock off that screech induces terror so powerful it kills, she picked her ear after it blew everyone off the battlements. The best measurement for things like fear effects is amount of people effect/level of terror or the old what resistances has this bypassed scale. So what has this fear bypassed/done that makes it able to overcome ainz resistance to fear effects? Effected iron willed people? How many? To what scale? Without some serious metaphysical nonsense/super god levels of stuff I don't consider that comparable to someone having some magical law that dictates this ability can't effect me.

Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 3: Laugh Hard with a Vengence

Im assuming the immunity to mental effects would cover it? It's called mind affecting immunity in the list I gave. I mean unless it's pierced some magical/metaphysical fear resistance I don't see why it would work? It sounds a lot like ainz fear aura tbh unless im missing something and if the only feat is scaring tough people...Ainz isn't tough, he's just magically immune to having his emotions effected/altered as are all undead in overlords verse. Now to be clear Im speaking from a point of ingnorance so I could be missing something about the ability, all I have to go off is you and that thread. But at the moment my impression is ainz just wouldn't feel any fear/expereince it because his immunity prevents that from happening. A magical effect that induces terror/fear isnt unique in overlords verse, as I mentioned ainz has an aura that does that himself. Now saying that if the weapon is simply strong enough to obliterate ainz that's it's own thing, but with the limited info I...
