@Astaro Also theater chains all across the United States are already dying at an unprecedented rate and at a record pace not seen before 2020... To put this into perspective: There were 7,000 theaters all across America in the year 2000. In 2020, that number went down to 5,800. In 2023 alone, that number decreased even further to just the lower end of the 2,000's range. Who knows what the number will be by the end of this year?

Yeah celebrities... how many times can one stand or sit in front of your telly to hear something dramatic, anecdotal, or cringe about the most painfully normie celebs in the Hollywood or American entertainment industry every day of the week on fucking ET or TMZ? Frankly it's just boring the shit out of me. In 2020, I went to see Ip Man 4, Sonic the Hedgehog 1, and the anime film Birthday Wonderland at my theater right before the COVID lockdowns: This year was the first time I actually bothered to return to the theater after the lockdowns and the pandemic was well beyond over and done with and I saw a grand total of four movies before its closing: Madame Webb, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Fall Guy, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. So that's literally 7 movies I watched at my theater this decade up until its state of death. Yep same, I went all the way from I think Star Wars Phantom Menace or the first Matrix movie in '99 all the way to a Kaiju film there.

So I take it theaters in your state and city aren't collapsing and going down under like mine right now? Are your area a city or urban area filled to the brim with regular movie-goers?

Yeah the relative lack of originality and creativity outside of the deluge of sequels and reboots we get from the Hollywood factory is an alarming cause for concern for the quality of their films dropping like an anvil. And who could have suspected the summer of strike we had witnessed and observed from Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists before our eyes would also be another catalyst contributing to the Hollywood's slow and painful erosion and downfall in today's age?

Y'all need to look at this: https://www.the-numbers.com/market/ The number of annual ticket sales in the United States all used to be above the baseline of one billion before 2020, peaking at over a billion and a half in 2002 and 2003... In 2020 it dropped by over a billion less tickets for the first time to just 200 million... And it took two years for it to be just over half a billion and we have still yet to go back to reaching the 1 billion tickets threshold. Let that sink in.

So I have a question for y'all: Are there any local theaters around your area in America (assuming any of the other people in this thread I'm addressing are my fellow Yanks)... Currently in danger of closing due to the following factors: 1. COVID (and its enduring ripples) 2. Inflation (increasing the most depending on your area) 3. Proliferation and surging of video streaming platforms and services? Or a combination of the above?

I'm just upset that she either slashed funding for disability programs/organizations or still just didn't do nearly good enough to actually move the needle.

Maybe. Either or, she still ain't nowhere near as cringe as Andrew Cuomo or Joe Biden as far as Establishment Democrat politicians go.

As a consistent Democratic voter myself and someone who voted for Kathy Hochul over Lee Zeldin in the 2022 Midterms, I still feel shocked and appalled that for all her good will and nice words, she cut funding for social programs I am a part for those with disabilities both mental and physical and still hasn't done enough for us poor New Yorkers at this point to the point of not giving a shit about us. Do better, you bitch.

Either way you slice it... I had a decent good day and night at my local theater for one last with my friend before sending him off home with a car service and watching my final movie with my family. I could go on and on and I do wish to discuss my last moments there some more, but it's late now and I need to hop into bed.

For the record, I almost got into 1st Place as Wario on "Easy" mode,, but being the receiving end of collisions with banana peels bumped me to 3rd Place in the end. Glad I tried it once and got it on camera and tried all the rides of Typhoon with my friend.

But at least my friend and I had a jolly good time spending our last moments together in the second floor of this theater talking and playing Mario Kart DX and trying out all different rides of Typhoon motion ride by Triotech. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_(simulator)

Too bad my friend didn't come to see any movie with me, since Ghostbusters Frozen Empire was the only one that interested him and he already saw it prior, even though I still had fond memories of watching no less than four movies there with him: 1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens in Early 2016 (a rewatch) 2. Alien: Covenant in Spring 2017 (he and I were huge fans of the Aliens franchise) 3. The Meg in the Spring or Summer of 2018 (another type of movie he's a fan of) 4. Good Boys in the Summer of 2019 (the only movie on this list that wasn't a sci-fi nor monster movie, surprisingly great comedy for both of us

Glad I saw Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire as my official last movie there. Even though I haven't seen the first one nor have I seen much Godzilla or Kaiju movies, since I am not a hardcore kaiju fan (but think Godzilla and such kaiju's are legendary and fascinating in their own right)... Ngl this one was amazing.

Well folks, tonight was the night that my local theater College Point Multiplex Cinemas bit the dust: https://ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2024/05/06/college-point-residents-losing-their-neighborhood-movie-theater-after-a-quarter-century-of-being-in-business

If that's how you felt about my responses, then I apologize for coming off that way. I didn't mean to react to your points with disrespect in any way, shape, or form tbh. We're all guilty of being biased for or against something. Ah okay, so you felt his style of humor veers too much into legit Aaron Seltzer & Jason Friedberg territory (or Mega Babies territory) without any substance or quality to back it up? Makes sense I guess. Well interesting. So you believe his "grounded" stories are even worse. Yeah never been a fan of things that are TOO grounded myself in places where I expect more action, intensity, and wonder if not more bright colors to boot. I also find it kinda cool that you seem to acknowledge there are plenty of comic book heroes that predated the DC Trinity. Those dudes seem pretty underrated. In truth, I would actually be nothing short of pretty fucking amazed and fascinated with the idea or the thought of seeing a comic superhero with superpowers that would...

Point taken. Another reason why I may like Superman more is because he is a more versatile and multi-faceted character and can be more complex in his personality and character I guess? And he has a diverse amount of adventures and a greater variety of stories to tell for someone of his role than Homelander? Homelander is more grounded and limited by comparison in that respect. Sorry if I don't read comics, I'm only basing my observation and perception on whatever non-comics media I've seen him in so far.
