Characters too good for the series they’re in

Power isn't exactly indicative of quality.

The Fortress of the Pearl for example has no cosmic stuff happen, and is fairly localized in the conflict that happens. Yet, it's one of the quintessential Elric novels because the storyline is great and is a good intro into the kinda character Elric is.

I wasn't talking about power.

If i was, my comment wouldn't make sense since V is one of the strongest if not the strongest mainline FF title.
 
Bondrewd from Made in Abyss. But only just, as the rest of the Manga's cast and writing are actually very good.
 
Made In Abyss had like a naked 12 year old tied up within the first 8 chapters so I do not regret dropping it at all

Shame because it's apparently hugely inspired by cave story which is my favorite game, but I got kids and I ain't reading shit that fetishizes them
 
also to clarify im not judging people for reading it, a lot of media especially anime has fucked shit in it and some people are able to ignore that more than others, Made in Abyss was just way too blatant with it for me personally to continue reading it
 
Since this thread got bumped I might as well bring up another character I’ve been thinking of.

Mereoleona from Black Clover. I’m sure some would disagree since the series also has Yami and Julius. But she’s my personal favorite of those three because she doesn’t use any special form of magic like Yami’s Arcane Stage Dark Magic or Julius’s Time Magic. She’s just a pure beast who’s honed her fire Magic to the Nth degree and bathes in fucking lava like it’s nothing.

That's why I said Bonedrewd is almost too good for the manga he's in, sometimes feeling like he's from an entirely different work of media with how cool he is and how alien his own character design is relative to everyone else. And I agree that the author can't stop inserting his fetishes into his work even though his writing and worldbuilding are genuinely on point.

Neo Exdeath was the only villain who had “destroy all of existence” hype behind it, at least from what I remember
