Mario vs Sonic is tired

I hate Doomslayer vs Master Chief because its a multiversal godslayer vs a small building level space marine and has not thematic connection whatsoever nowadays beyond a legacy connection that is irrelevant because Chief still actually wins the legacy matchup

I want Shadow vs Mewtwo tbh because that was always wrong

Shadow got his dub against Ryuko.

Does Doomslayer have any other matchups that would lead to him returning other than the rematch? If he could return in another way i'd be cool with it. But i'd rather have him return and showcase all of his crazy new shit, even if it's with a stomp match, rather not return at all.

What's the most popular out of those?

The only SMT Match-Up with any real traction i've seen in the community (and one i'd love to see) is John Constantine vs Raidou Kuzunoha.

Going off Deathbattle Casts Spawn's probably gonna be up against either Ghost Rider or King in Black Venom if he returns.

Richter would make sense if they start accepting Multiversal Castlevania i'll say. Though they didn't really seem to indicate that with Dracula vs Ganondorf.

majority of these are unlikely to happen
spawn fighting ghost rider if he comes back
tadano is a massive who nobody knows of outside hardcore SMT stans
Guiliman has fuck all for footage outside a clip or two
Dante prob fighting Bayo for a rematch if that happens in the future

They’d have to do something different to differentiate from previous Mario vs Sonic matches though, wouldn’t they?

Though I guess Cappy, Wonder Flower, and Cyber Sonic from Frontiers might be fun new additions in their own right.
 
Yeah, ChiefSlayer is his best shot. Other matches with Doomslayer might be cool too, but it is what it is.

The problem is ChiefSlayer isn't a fight. Watching it would just look ridiculous; it would be as unrealistic as Gohan having to cycle his SSJ forms vs Invincible, hell it's even more unrealistic than that. It's a guy with literal billions of years experience responsible for killing gods and angels vs a guy whose overall feats haven't improved since the original Death Battle. Chief could use a sticky, an incinerator cannon, a spartan laser, and it wouldn't chip off the paint of Doomslayer's armor. This isn't even the case of other fights where at the low end a character might be pushed to his higher end feats. There is no pushing here. Doomslayer starts hundreds of times more powerful than Chief at his absolute peak and only grows infinitely more powerful from there.

And yes, DB does stomps, that is undeniable, but usually there's something that can be worked with to at least make the illusion that it isn't a stomp at least in the beginning. The DB team might even intentionally wank up one character so he can hold his own for at least the duration of the fight. There is nothing here. The only time I think there was such a clearcut stomp like this was Omniman vs Homelander, and I don't think Chief is as exactly hated as Homelander to warrant being stomped.

Slayer is like kratos relys on mainly lore shit to say he this universal/multiversal demigod who can nuke universes and move at immeasurable speeds when on purely on visuals theres nothing slayer done that screams why force chief at the slaughter.
again different ball game in that one to compare omnilander to Chief vs Slayer when Nolan were blatant to the human eye
 
I'd prefer Master Chief vs Commander Shephard personally. You can have more of a debate with that one and I think that the characters would play off of each-other better.

Doomslayer should get another crack at Death Battle at some point with the big upgrades and revival the franchise has had since the original, but that match does feel more like it's serving up John as a sacrificial lamb so they have an excuse to bring Slayer back and less because it's actually the best option for either character.

I'm sure they would find a way to still pay Halo respect and make it an enjoyable episode, but it's further down the hype list for me than some of the other alternatives.
 
Regardless, I still back Master Chief vs Doom Slayer since I prefer it over most of the other poll options. I was sort of hoping they would have Chun Li vs Mai on there, since that episode was terrible and I feel Chun Li warrants a proper redo.

In any case this is my ranking on the rematch poll.
1. Master Chief vs Doomguy : Halo was a big part of my childhood and I like what they've done with modern Doomslayer, so I would be down to see them both return with an updated analysis even if it isn't my most preferred match-up for each other.

2. Mewtwo vs Shadow : Shadow has been used a lot, but I don't think any of the episodes were that great. In any case I remember watching the original episode and it left me disappointed by the amount of missed potential it had, so I don't mind seeing it again.

3. Zelda vs Peach : I actually didn't mind the original fight outcome, but the analysis was bad. If I recall they decided the victory by Peach kicking the ball and causing it to separate in the Mario Striker's game which was not the best. Peach has a lot more interesting abilities and power-ups she can pull since they've been using her more as a main player and Zelda was in Hyrule Warriors, but they could do a bit more with it this time.

4. Mario vs Sonic : Probably would be higher since I still think there is untapped potential here and a lot they could tap into that the last two battles didn't, also that they felt out of character in the last fight. Goku vs Superman 3 surpassing expectations closing out the trilogy raises the expectations here, but Bowser vs Eggman already scratches that itch well enough.

5. Terminator vs RoboCop : I don't remember having much issue with the original outside of the now very dated animation, but I wouldn't mind a modernized version.

6.. Ben 10 vs Green Lantern : Kyle already gives us a lantern representative and a more hype match-up, but I'm not against this.

7. Tracer vs Scout : I understand why people want this one, but I don't have much investment in either character.

8. Yang vs Tifa : Feels like this is here to correct the mistake, which is fine, but I can live without it.

9. Gaara vs Toph : Same as Yang vs Tifa, but I never thought these two were a good match-up for each other and would rather see them against other characters. With One Piece live action S2 around the corner, I'd rather a Gaara vs Crocodile than running this back again.

10. Ninja Turtle Battle Royale : I'm sure we'd get a cool animation, but it lacks the crossover appeal for a Death Battle.
 
They're not gonna bring up any possible lore stuff for Slayer until the post-fight analysis, and you know DB enough to know they'll buff Chief in some way to make it even.

ChosenBorn was more one-sided than this matchup anyways
 
Calculation for Doomslayer's punches


The best physical feat I got for a spartan was 6 megajoules. In terms of durability the only two feats that would be higher than this for Spartans is the unrealistic high end for Master Chief surviving a plasma grenade (200 megajoules), and Chief taking 6 FRG shots (A few gigajoules). And this is a low end for the punch, it is much higher as this is just the bare minimum.
