Chapter #1: May I come In
Flight, Seals, Seal Breaking and Dimensional Travel Evil Spirits have escaped from a prison called "Abyss" because the "seal" on it has been broken.
The Evil Spirits fly to the Real World so they can be free.
Possession, Energy Sensing and Exceptional Vessel A movie producer called Sudo is possessed by a group of evil spirits. he has only enough time to question to source of the voice in his head before he is completely taken over.
The spirits are in awe of Chloe, describing her as
"an exceptional vessel. An unfaltering flow of soul." Manipulating Sudo into holding her down so they can try and possess her.
Chloe vs Sudo Chloe kicks Sudo and the spirit possessing him in the head, flooring them both before running.
He gets up the next page unpreturbed and releases several evil spirits to chase after her.
Chloe's Fighting Experience Chloe grew in the slums saying
"Those days, stealing and fighting were the norm for me. I'd do anything to survive." This is illustrated by a couple of panels showing her wielding a baseball bat covered in barbed wire and fighting off adult men with it.
Evil Spirits vs Chloe The spirits jump Chloe and easily restrain her as a group, Chloe being unable to break their grip before they try to possess her. She at least SEEMS to resist momentarily but was obviously going to succumb to it eventually.
Kai vs Evil Spirits Kai uses his chain to cut the limbs off all three spirits restraining Chloe before they could react.
The Spirits question what Kai is because
"You're able to cut us." The Evil Spirits rush Kai himself and are cut to pieces by his chain and killed before they could get any closer to him.
Hades = The Afterlife Kai introduces himself as Kai Iod, saying he's
"come from the realm of Hades". He clarifies that hades is the afterlife and likensit to Heaven and Hell.
Chloe's Genetic Makeup Kai explains that Chloe is a spirit medium, specifically likening it to a shaman and that
"Your body allows you to be possessed by any type of spirit." Compatible Bodies The Jailbreak from Hades occured weeks ago at this point. kai explains that
"The first thing spirits will do is look for compatible bodies to possess and control." Creating and Maintaining a Human Form Kai clarifies that he is a spirit himself,
"I am trying my hardest to maintain this human form" meaning stronger spirits can create pseudo human/physical bodies for themselves but ultimately
"A physical body is necessary in the real world." He asks Chloe to let him possess her and she promptly sends him flying with a punch.
Compatible Bodies vs Random Zombies "Sudo" reappears and reveals that his "friends" have possessed everyone on the train, who then restrain Chloe.
"Sudo" explains that "
in order to be effective in the real world, we spirits need to find compatible bodies. If we try to possess a random body, we end up like mindless zombies." Intangibility and Arkham Bullet "Sudo" attempts to possess Chloe again but Kai passes through the roof of the train and uses his chain to knock back all the people holding Chloe, along with Sudo. Notably he isn't able to CUT them like he could before.
When Chloe asks WHAT Kai is, he expains that he's from
"Arkham Bullet. A bureau of Hades. I'm stationed there as a Ghost Reaper. When evil spirits cause mischief, be it in Hades or the Real World, it's my job to exterminate them." Spirit Attacks vs Living Flesh Kai tells Chloe that he's "playing it cool" but
"As a spirit, my attacks aren't very effective against human flesh. Too many people at once puts me at a disadvantage." Meaning both numbers AS WELL as him being a spirit is why this is a pretty bad situation for kai here, despite him obviously being more powerful than any other spirit here individually.
Chloe saves Kai Kai is overwhelmed and restrained by the possessed zombies, and about to be killed by Sudo before Chloe jumps in and drops Sudo with a kick to the head.
Kai's True Form Upon being given permission to possess Chloe, kai transforms into a human shaped mass of chains. Presumably this is his true form as a spirit.
Kai Possesses Chloe/Chloe's Transformation Kai finally possesses Chloe and it causes her to transform, gaining a new outfit and a scythe with kai's chain attached to it.
Ghost Reaper Girl's Speed Chloe slashes her scythe so fast that she cuts through four of the zombies at once before any of them could react, causing them all to drop to the ground (though with no blood to show for the cut).
Skill - Through the Blood Kai's spirit is inside Chloe but he speaks to her through the scythe. He explains that she didn't actually kill any of the people she'd hit with the scythe.
"No cuts on the bodies. You only cut the evil spirits possessing them. It's called Through the Blood. It's a special ability called a skill." He clarifies that she used the skill subconsciously and has a natural gift for spirit slaying.
Spirit Absoption Sudo claims that possessing Chloe could make him a "high level demon" then calls to his friends and absorbs all of them into himself to increase his own power.
Ghost Reaper Girl vs Sudo and his Friends Chloe initially runs from the tentacle (easily outpacing them) until Sudo makes the mistake of calling her an
"amateur when it comes to hell and the battlefield" BIG FUCKING MISTAKE.
Chloe casually cuts through his tentacle, stalks right up and one-shots the fucker while declaring he has
"no idea the number of battlefields I've been through" destroying all the evil spirits with one slash. Leaving both Sudo and Kai amazed at her strength.
