Naruto: Feats and Discussion Thread

GoldenHeart

Paramount

Was doing a re-reading of Nardo and (unfortunately) was planning to read Burrito for the first time after it, so, figured i'd make this to discuss it

Iirc @B Rabbit was also gonna read it again, dunno what came of that tho

It's kinda hilarious and amazing that we just never bothered with a Naruto Discussion Thread as none of us wanted to go through the bullshit of Burrito and everyone already got Naruto accounted for so(As it would otherwise just be us dunking on Naruto, Sasuke and the more we dig, the more of a hackfraud Mahashi Kishimoto is and how I both envy and feel bad for his brother)...

My main gripe with Burrito isn't even that it's prolly gonna be bad. If that was the case, i would've already wrote off reading Naruto altogether

It's that

I have to watch the full anime, since apparently, the filler is canon

Considering that Kishi isn't even involved with the manga, there is a decent chance that anything Borute era related that isn't the Boruto movie itself is gonna be made non canon at some point.

Edit: The Sarada Gaiden manga should also be fine

I’m not surprised.

This series Naruto has been concluded for a decade now

And no one besides hardcore Naruto fans (or perhaps Naruto fans under Sunk Cost Fallacy) bothers with Burrito at this point

Honestly I think they may have backtracked on the anime being canon.

It has and hasn't. The biggest issue is that the manga barely references any of the anime despite it being stated to be supplemental material to it(Which isn't helped by the fact that the manga is monthly when it really doesn't need to be) which means that the anime tends to basically be a better palate' cleanser when it comes to the most important things but because Ikemoto barely references it...

Kodachi referenced it. Ike has stated in a recent interview that he largely ignores it and the manga under him even actively contradicts the anime.

Burrito Canon discourse is fine, but generally Anime-Manga discourse amounts to the usual.

Burrito Anime is canon to the anime. Burrito Manga is canon to the manga. Its how it is, and that’s basically it. Safest, most conservative way to look at this.

Have they?

From what i read at the Naruto section, the mango does reference anime filler arcs from time to time

Funny thing is, the anime apparently also canonized some filler from the OG anime as well lol

That was when Kodachi was writing it. When Ike took over the manga stopped referencing the anime and even started contradicting it. And as I said Ike stated in a recent interview that he doesn't pay attention to the anime.

Re-reading the CE arc, it's interesting that there's already some implication of Gaara being ~ Jonin level, with the exam proctors stating his feat's beyond any Chuunin

Could be loosely supported by him killing the Kazekage's guard (i.e his aunt) + Sasuke stating he was as stealthy as Kakashi.

To be fair, it's hard to really say considering most unnamed Genin and Jounin are fodder(And ANBU even moreso) but then you have the Special Jounin Raidou and Genma was able to hold off the Sound 4 in Cursed Stage 2 BEFORE they was later on retconned to be the bodyguards of Minato.

Hell, it was implied they likely would have straight up beat the sound 4 if they weren't exhausted from doing back to back missions.

POV: It’s Saturday night in 2006, and your about to watch the finale of the Chunnin Exam arcs Naruto vs Gaara

Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, MÄR, Eureka 7, Blood+, Trinity Blood

Good times…

Pretty sure those two were also tasked to fight 50% Muu in the war lol

Not so sure about that

Iirc they say something among the lines of "i know we were exhausted and all, but still..", so, they didn't use it as an excuse

Plus they note they should send in a team of Jonin to fight the S4
