It's so obvious it couldn't have been a meteorite drop site considering it would have stayed hot for a while, if the crater is that fucking big. he wouldn't casually be sitting next to it destroying the evidence if he literally thinks it's a brand new crater.

There would be burn marks and other shit considering how big that hole is.

Dude knows it's fake and he just probably want to sell the rock, The rock could be authentic but sitting in his garage for a long time and hadn't found a way to make money out of it and he jump on this shit for all we know.

If it isn't the dude is a big dumb ass wasting everyone's time.

That's exactly what he is

He came around the beach, saw the hole, concocted an elaborate fantasy, picked a random rock from the ground thinking it was a "meteorite" and started telling everybody.

In fact one of the comments even say that he recently got the rock checked out and the scientist said it was just some limestone you can find everywhere on the beach

I wasn't considering the Yuffie thing as a separate game. Also iirc the third disc of the original is literally just the final dungeon and boss (and the other "extra" content like the Weapon bosses)

So yeah, I'd expect game 3 to be from after Aerith's death through to the fight with Sephiroth in the crater, provided things don't divert from the trajectory too much.
 

Uh, Cross? There is alot of story between Disc 2 and Disc 3 so trying to do that would basically be even worse than what they would do with your idea...

Disc 3 is literally just the Northern Crater and side content, though

So they could definitely fit all of a single disk worth of game plus the final dungeon into a single multi-disk game. And considering where part 2 ends and their currently stated intentions for a trilogy, logically that's what they'll have to do.

Though part 3 is the one most likely to actually deviate from the storyline for good (which better not mean they fuck up Cid's stuff) so who knows.
 
from what I've heard it went somewhat downhill after the first part which is why I put it off

not as badly as some other works I dropped though OG knows the one
or ones I refuse to mention
