That one time Hello Kitty actually collaborated and crossed over with Digimon for the very first time as of this decade:

Though I ain't a Digimon bro myself, but this was easily one of the more interesting crossovers I've seen Hello Kitty and Sanrio engage in to date.

I'm honestly surprised Hello Kitty had an official crossover with Yugioh and even Digimon first before they would ever do with Pokemon in any nominal capacity.

They usually do a last chance match for the losers of these matches so Kairi can win that and qualify at the end.
That is certainly an option.
I have o idea why Zoey Stark wasn't released with the others.
I guess just so they have a mid-card heel who isn't Ivy Nile as she really is the only one they have on Raw right now aside from Raquel but she's in a tag team.

Only now Zoey's injured and, based on the nasty way that leg bent (seriously best wishes to her, hope she gets better), I don't think that's gonna change for a while so right back to that conundrum they go.

Digimon's done a lot of crossover stuff in general like Godzilla and Medabots, not to mention the amount of Digimon that are direct references to other characters.

So it makes sense to me as Pokemon keeps itself a lot more self-contained AFAIK.

I'm just still sad that my favorite Sanrio characters Pochacco and Badtz-Maru didn't make the cut in this crossover, but I guess there's only so many positions you can fill in for being the Sanrio equivalents to each character in the Adventures 01 cast of Digimon.

Maybe for the casts of the subsequent Digimon series someday if Sanrio ever bothers to return to this collab.

Unfortunately Adventure is the big money maker for Digimon so it's always going to be at the root of these sorts of crossovers.
The only way I could see that changing is if it were a case where the crossover writes itself.

For instance Justimon from Tamers is literally inspired by Kamen Rider and the entire concept of Frontier is Super Sentai but with kids as opposed to teenagers/adults. Stuff like that.

Well look at Digimon's list of crossovers here: https://fictionalcrossover.fandom.com/wiki/Digimon

The ones that are listed as "Type 1" crossovers (meaning characters from each different franchises that actually interact or at least meet or are physically featured alongside each other in one work or product):
  • Gachapin
  • Tekken
  • Tower of Saviors
  • Dragon Poker
  • Earth Revival
  • Pretty Cure
  • Godzilla.

Compare that to Pokemon's list of crossovers here: https://fictionalcrossover.fandom.com/wiki/Pokémon

Outside of Super Smash Bros as their most prominent series on their resume, Pokemon did have...

Oh wait... Digimon did have more concrete official crossovers than Pokemon did if you discount Super Smash Bros and Pokemon's crossovers with other series on Kids Wb's promos including Yugioh.

Well I'll be darned.

Didn't notice until now.
Cybersleuth mc has actual lightspeed movement.

And Smash Bros is another Nintendo series just like Pokemon which kind of makes the point that Pokemon is pretty restrained in terms of what it will and wont cross over with.

It's not like Pokemon needs to do any of that though, it's already one of the highest grossing franchises ever, whereas Yugioh and Digimon are much lower on the pecking order to my eternal chagrin. :maybe

Cybersleuth mc has actual lightspeed movement.

I mean he has to be able to survive encounters with all these Eaters and other Digimon somehow right?
Though Kyoko does say he was gonna have to "time it" but still crazy speed from Cyber Sleuth there.

PS. You realize he's called Cyber Sleuth in-game as a moniker? You don't need to say Cybersleuth MC, you can just say Cyber Sleuth. :maybe

So Tamers and Frontiers gets less of a chance for representation in Digimon's inter-series or inter-company crossovers.

While Adventure 01/02 gets to hog all the spotlight.

Well that's too bad.

If Pochacco and Badtz-Maru could pair up with or cosplay as any Digimon in the main casts of any season, wonder what would fit those two?

Veemon for Badtz-Maru? Terriermon for Pochacco?

Oh shit, I just noticed I left out Medabots on the list.

And I also notice that almost all of Digimon's official crossovers outside of Hello Kitty/Sanrio are with either:
  • Mobile games (niche ones at that)
  • Anything either owned by Namco Bandai OR animated by Toei Animation.

Kind of how it works specially adventure being th efirst series it's practically the same with pokemon how Popular Charizard, Pikachu and Snorlax is.

Unless the later series literally out spotlight the other earlier series they'll be shoved at the back.
(final fantasy 7) For example.
and 7 is the first entry in playstation so it's still one of the first.

Come to think of it...

Badtz-Maru

Yet as of Smash Ultimate, there have been multiple non-Nintendo franchises that you could argue that Pokemon crossed over with by proxy (including Assist Trophies and Mii Costumes):
  • Metal Gear
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Mega Man
  • Pac-Man
  • Street Fighter
  • Final Fantasy (VII)
  • Bayonetta
  • Castlevania
  • Persona
  • Dragon Quest
  • Banjo Kazooie
  • Fatal Fury/King of Fighters
  • Virtua Fighter
  • Bomberman
  • Monster Hunter
  • Shovel Knight
  • Tekken
  • Tales of (Symphonia)
  • Tower of Druaga
  • Goemon
  • Undertale
  • Rayman
  • Shantae
  • Bit.Trip / Runner
  • Minecraft
  • Kingdom Hearts

That's helluva lot of series for Pokemon to be trading hands with or being on the receiving end of an Assist Trophy.
