I have a hard time like Yassop.

He's badass. But I'm worried Usopp will never reach his level. So then I get annoyed.

Kidd looks better in hindsight, Bart pissed himself while Shanks at least acknowledged Kidd as someone he himself has to deal with and told his strongest men not to underestimate him

Kidd was never gonna be allowed to look strong against Shanks when you remember Oda's biases

Shanks had to end Kidd asap.

That alone tells you how strong Kidd is. He saw a future where Kidd wiped out a large chunk of his fleet. That's why Shanks went all out from the get go. Kidd was a danger. Bartolomeo is not, that's why they waited a month to take care of it.

It even makes Kid's initial defeat look better. The portrayal has been there for some time, but Yasopp is almost certainly more powerful than Cracker or Jack. Likely I could see him squaring up to Queen and that going either way.

Kid on his first run up against the Red Hair pirates had to go two steps higher on the ladder against Beckman, and people were trying to clown on him for that loss despite it happening over the timeskip when he was far weaker.

It's nice that Yasopp after 27 years finally has a better feat than shooting an apple from a distance real life person could make, but man... this did him no favors as a character. This makes the whole crew look like massive assholes for gunning Barto down after he passed their loyalty test and they let him go.

I actually disagree. I think it added to his character. Sure, dick move, but as a Yonko crew It was necessary to show they're not to be fucked with by anyone, that they mean business and you will never challenge their authority and definitely not encroach upon their territory and get away with it because you're a friend of. They did burn their flag which is practically a declaration of war. I also believe he knew they'd survive since he didn't seem to have any intentions of killing them. And sure, that explosion and narration seem like he didn't give a shit but we all know how One Piece is when it comes to these type of moments.

I see it as Yasopp upholding the standard to an extent which shows you how much he values their crew and flag, and what it means to him. Just because you've proven loyalty to a friendly crew of theirs doesn't mean you get to piss on their flag and get away with it.

Also, it appears that Barto got the wrong idea that they're "soft" because of that "pass" he got. So him going around running his mouth on how he burned the Red Hair flag and got away with it free of charge could give other punks the wrong idea.

All in all, decent chapter, tbh. Proper setup and while I am intrigued by what the heck happened to the Sunny and where Nami's at I'm not gonna pretend I'm not annoyed by it delaying Elbaf for lord knows how long.

The way I see it now and from past experience, we're probably going to reach Elbaf and be introduced to Loki as the cliffhanger of this year's last chapter. Kinda frustrating...

Shanks is getting more and more focus since the Red Movie
The narrative downplay he got made people think he was weaker than Roger/Garp/Ray/WB when I don't think Oda ever saw him as weaker than them

If they just destroyed the Barto Club then that would have been fine, it was doing all of that other stuff just to destroy them anyways that's a bad look.

Like Oda should have picked a path he wanted to go with. Either have him subjected to the poison test where he proves his character and is shown some mercy because of it being allowed to sail free or just remain prisoner... or have the Red Hair pirates roll up and wipe him out with no hesitation. Either one is fine by itself in a vacuum, but doing both and forcing Bartolomeo to take the poison test and tricking him into thinking he's free to go, only to nuke then them anyways as they were leaving is something a villain does.

I think its cool because that’s half and half what Shanks is. He’s heroic but not a hero and they are still Pirate Emperors anyhow.

I think this is a pretty black and white way of looking at it. That moment added nuance to his character and the RHP as a crew, if anything.

Again - he probably never intended on wiping them out to begin with and I'm pretty sure they're aware of what Barto's capable of, and that It was more along the lines of sending a clear message to anyone else with similar ideas--burn our flag we'll burn your ship-- rather than outright wiping the entire crew out which would never sit well with Luffy.

Testing their loyalty to Luffy to insure his safety in the future doesn't mean that Barto's crew get to get away with such an act of aggression against a notorious Yonko crew that has reputation to uphold.

I love it that they have certain, unwaivering rules as pirates that they will never betray, it adds character.

Garling might become the strongest Gorosei if given a Zoan by Imu
Hermano is the leader of the Knights

It's weird that Shanks Dad and Hermano might legitimately be the strongest on the WG Side besides Imu himself and Akainu
