How do you have him playing as scum?
Think he’s been pretty shit for most of the game, including taking an easy landing spot when he entered the game by going for fang which is always easy material. The fact he just kinda dropped it shows that he never really had conviction in it anyway
Look at the way he played around my wagon too, he’s easily the most shady one there originally, basically just egged it on without voting and was encouraging my claim and then I claimed and throughout all of this he didn’t vote but when I voted him, he immediately voted me back and claimed lol. Never seen him react like that as town at all. He also made a post where he jumped on something ultra said about flower, which ultra shaded flower for and thought it looked bad but ignored haza doing it, despite apparently being suspicious of haza himself.
Then he also tried to bring hime back into poe and then backtracked when I made that a point of my sus and was trying to dirty up Wazi earlier as well.
I’m not really sure what you have down as his town and scum play, but keeping poe open or making it bigger isn’t really what I expect of him as town, nor do I really expect him to give up on his pushes easily or encourage wagons without voting

When you put him and Poyser side by side I think some of his later posting does not seem even remotely self preservational. And not in a "I have given up" sense. Poyser is grubbily taking anything he can get. Which tbf I expect him to do as either alignment.

As scum, I feel like he's very preoccupied with how he comes across. I think he would know that coming in swinging on Aurelian wouldn't serve him too well, in the long run at least, I'd expect him to come in with some I guess "hotter takes" to look like he is playing bold/aggressively without actually doing so. And I think he'd probably position himself around you better - what you point out is careless and sloppy, and I don't really think as scum he is careless and sloppy.
This seems more of a point against Ultra than it does against him. The latter part, at least. As for the former, I kind of gave my take on it in the paragraph above.
I've missed/not read where he has done this. I take your point here - I would agree that isn't very good and not something I will defend.
