The Arisen is like the wielder of the Matrix in most continuities. Most people though IDW Optimus was the True Arisen, but all that shit was a hyperbole.

that was always one of my least favorite parts of Aligned. Not that Optimus has to be written only one way, but I dislike the idea of him being secretly a demigod. He’s more compelling even when he wields holy power as someone who started off as an ordinary person


I love Prime but for the most part largely disliked the lore the Covenant added to it

I'm fine with Star Convoy being involved to a prime since it would make sense if Optimus was gaining his divinty in the G1.Yeah it is just, Aligned did it bad

i think i know why it bothers me finally actually, at least the big reason

its leaning into Optimus as Robo Space Jesus
which feels too much to me, those jokes are funny but i dont think they should be serious Prima should be Cybertronian Space Jesus anyway give this man a character arc COME ON

IDW kinda nailed it near the end where Optimus basically just pretends he’s Jesus because everyone else already thinks he is

The parallels are great but making him an actual god lessens his accomplishments to me. It’s more impressive that he will always put his life on the line knowing he can’t come back. When he does come back it’s a genuine miracle not something he planned for
 
also i just think its a cool message that optimus can rise from just being A Guy to being Hero of Cybertron, protector of the entire Universe, and help destroy an immortal Death God

and he did this because hes just a good dude, thats fundamentally it
 
i like that hes just a guy who means well and doesnt give up and rises to the occasion and thus EARNS Primus's Blessing rather than being born with it from the start

not to say the latter is bad its just not ideal for Optimus Prime, at least how i see him
the Thirteen are born with Primus's blessing as he made them of course, and their arcs and struggles are unlike Optimus
 
i also like the way prime ultimately just being a guy adds to his relationship with the autobots

him being what is effectively an archangel feel a little weird in terms of the autobots following him
and i like that the autobots follow him not because of him being a divine god prince king but because they know that hes just a good dude and that he wouldn't ask anything of them that he wouldn't do himself

him having such a position would automatically make him feel way more distant to the autobots, at least thats how itd feel to me

hopefully explained that well i just like the idea of the autobots following optimus because hes a good dude whos earned leadership rather than "so you're telling me he's Jesus" and everyone just falls in line because hes effectively a deity
 
Optimus is cool because he’s everything Primus wanted out of the world, for people to rise up and do good at great personal cost for the next generation with no benefit to themselves, and he was never given this task, he just chose to take it up because it was the right thing to do.
