No, it's not so much that I'm not doubting it at all, but I'm thinking about whether he'd risk claiming indie if he wasn't one, without knowing if there's an actual indie or not

Think you're confused about his point, he's saying if another town protection exist they'd be hinting at it and being very aggressive to tweet/saber if not claim outright, and that this supports saber being town legitimately
 
The counterpoint is that doing that sort of thing is not neccessarily the correct play in that you shouldn't hint your role so obviously if you don't absolutely need to

Answer really is "it depends". There's risk reward calculus there for mafia if they're otherwise empty handed with what they can claim. It has been done, but usually when you're at that stage, you don't really make it too far.

Overall assessment is that it's likelier he's indi that's lying about wincon details vs mafia

But the point is even if he's exactly what he's claimed just about 0 reason not to bin him, except for maybe ego play reasons
 

This post from him bothered me earlier too, maybe I'm reading too far into it, but he is implying he's bulletproof but never claimed as much
