Thing about DVs, it's gonna come up in first VC anyway. I mean it already did. All Yoho did was saving us some time from trying to figure out who out of prof's voters has it. It's pointless to hide it with "true" VCs.
I'll tell you this much - Fuji likes throwing curveballs like this. So don't expect some roles that are "obvious town" to always be town. In one game I had town role that could protect people from bus drives and redirections and bus driver and redirector were town. On paper, seeing these flips i would be obvious scum role. Or in WCI game i think where poisoner and healer were mafia and hostile indie (you'd expect healer to be town). That being said I think Flower said he recently changed up miller so i doubt he'd do it again.
In WG that just ended Mango claimed 2vp early on and it worked out. Maybe that's his inspiration :o Also again, it's not like he can hide it anyway unless he won't vote anyone.

That's fair tbh. If I end up in scummy as pm, it makes more sense to tell it to people i trust rather than privately to people i think are scum.

No, no one told me to claim that, it just doesn't feel like something worth hiding, it's not something cool like a roleblock or redirect or kill power, it's just an extra vote and I'd rather my fellow town be aware of it, so they won't accidentally hammer thinking the vote count is one less than what it actually is
With that being said you are correct that there's isn't much difference between how I play as scum vs town
