It's why I don't recommend people to buy the REmake 4 as it's just meh and not worth 60$ at all for ultimately another mid experience compared to the original you can get for cheap.
I'm still not happy none of the recent ports of RE4 has the Gamecube Graphics Engine(Somefuckinghow) and only use the PS2's absolutely shit design but it's still better than... that remake.

Nah. 4 remake was good. They took away some of the campiness but it doesn't really hurt the experience nearly as much as a lot of youtubers would have you believe
 
They added a ton more than they took out

Expanded Luis' role in the overarching story

Krauser Expanded backstory

Made Ashley actually likeable

Remixed certain sections of the game to switch things up while keeping most major set pieces intact

Only thing they dropped the ball on was Ada and Leon's dynamic, he bounces off ashely way better than he does in any scene with ada

they even cut cool scenes like these, lmao



og gamecube version, still the best along with the wii version, which is actually the gamecube one, but upscaled and with better controls, somehow, they did it for wii, and fixed it

krauser's og voice actor and overall attitude >> remake one, overall, its one of those cases where og va cast is still better

the only thing i liked from these chars, was the actual expansion on luis's char and ashley being somewhat decent
 
i still wait for jake muller to make another appearance and show stats wise, he is still > both chris and leon :heston

the only char, who gave the hands to an upgraded nemesis like creature, literally, went wwe mode on ustanak :heston

They added some shit to it but I also feel that they didn't understand what they made better for example:

You said they gave Krauser a better backstory... which they did but then they neutered him hardcore by just making him someone whose basically "FOR POWAH" after the shit in Darkside Chronicles(I think?) and has a worse VA.
I have no problems with the remixing of the stages because I don't want a 1:1 Remake or making Ashley likeable... but the camp MAKES the game a hell of alot more than most of that.

We lose the back and forth and charm from both Saddler and Salazar. Mendez barely has any real presence, Ada is absolutely fucking awful and so is Wesker and the focus to the typical gameplay like the other Remakes does hurt it pretty bad in the feeling of horror you got along with the cheese.

Next game he gets the prototype virus and it's just plain action horror instead of survival horror. A DMC style Resident Evil game with Jake as the lead character. Wesker comes back and is the final boss. Nero versus Vergil biohazard edition.

This was my favorite scene in the original and I would still recommend the remake over it. The remake just improves the experience that much more

It doesn't though. They were little moments that ultimately don't hurt the game unless you had already experienced the first one.

They barely had a back and forth in the original lol He had I think 2 comms with Salazar and 1 with Saddler

He has more presence than in the original game lol they even gave him his own sections as opposed to him being a literal X knockoff with a one off boss fight

We literally don't see enough of Wesker to call him awful and re4 never actually gave you a feeling of horror. From the jump it was more action heavy than the other games and Leon being able to suplex and round house niggas didn't help

Granted even by the time of the original me and the fam made a hobby of trying to speed run re and topping each others scores in mercenaries (the code veronica version). So maybe thats just us
