That explains all the D&D-inspired lingo he puts in his writing, but like even more so than Nasu, as well as Grasp Heart being so suspiciously similar to Zabaniya
He's straight up stated he was inspired by his dnd campaign ending, just going down the spell list of overlord it's very clearly a 3.5e dnd spell list/tier system with very small name changes.

The author is completely unashamed of his influences overall, there is a sharknado spell and aura keeps a small godzilla as a pet (They made it a trex in the anime...Likely for legal reasons)

I heard the story he worked on with type moon was incredibly edgy as well, which if true is rather...fitting.

Kagetsu Tohya wasn't all that edgy, it was surprisingly pretty mellow outside of the "villain" basically being someone who usurped control of NVRSQR's Chaos who believed she was alive the whole time but isn't. Even then, it's still not all that edgy from the little I have gotten from it. Not sure if he did the Nanaya/Kishinami-Death angle though.

Apparently he specifically wrote a short story called dawn that was later adapted in type moon if that helps?

Yeah then that's basically the story of the woman who assumed control of NRVNQSR's Chaos after the latter was killed by Shiki and the Chaos reformed. Alot of it is figuring out who she is, then the fact that she's alive again but then she's basically just NRVNQSR Chaos but amped up(His False Chaos became the actual True Chaos and not even 30% Arcueid could scratch her at full blast) and basically went suicide by cop as life wasn't worth living.

Unironically, the dude's story basically shits on the concept of Overlord by having her see she would cause death and destruction in her new "existence" and chose to die.

I mean it sounds more like she was just a different less selfish character, ainz is defined by his selfish uncaring nature. He was born in hell, lived in hell and survived by just not caring. Him making the world a worse place doesn't bother him because he never really cared about the world in the first place (probably because the world was already in a death spiral before he was even born, it's highly implied the world 2138 was on the way to becoming totally unlivable before he got isekaid)

That's... the point though? You have told us Momonga at his core is someone who is easily peer pressured into doing shit and ultimately that will be his ironic self-inflicted hell on top of the fact that he's basically losing whatever Humanity he has left as he also can't connect to anyone(Which we know in the IF Storyline he would absolutely be a better person if he could).

Maiko, once she fully grasps her situation and despite being a Dead Apostle Ancestor who can basically take the world by storm and live forever... just chooses to die the second she would have to sustain herself by killing people just like Fabro Rowan before her.

Ainz deciding to kill himself after having a pretty clear idea of the kind of killing machine he got Isekai’d into from wiping out the Slane Theocracy soldiers in the first volume wouldn’t make for much of a story of an ongoing novel series as opposed to a short story like Dawn

I wouldn't call it hell, he's a bit stressed but he's actually rather happy spending time with his children, exploring new world and enjoying the natural world. New world is essentially heaven compared to his old life despite being an undead.

Now he also has gotten a magical lobotmy that makes him not give an f about murder and your left to decide whether him not caring about his sudden lack of empathy is simply due to being undead or a reflection of his original personality.

Ainz is a different person, he's a greedy, self serving monster that values his freinds/allies/family more then the rest of the world. Its just a different story,

Ironically ainz doesn't need to kill, he just doesn't really care.

Slightly off topic rant:

Its one of the big changes from dnd, liches in overlord don't require souls to sustain themselves. Meaning they lack the big thing that makes them implicitly evil. You don't need to devour the souls of innocents to sustain your existence as a lich, if you don't go around killing people there will be no ill effects to you.

It kinda cuts out a big portion of what makes liches inherently so vile in normal dnd settigs, they're not selfish magic casters who twisted their essence and devoured the souls of others to sustain their twisted unlife...They're just weird skeletal mages, heck according to the logic of overlord most liches weren't ever truly human or "Alive". Rather a bunch of negative energy infused a corpse and it rose as an undead, and the way overlord works the undead generally don't have any memory/connection to their previous lives.

HOLY SHIT that Revolution main event was an unmitigated DISASTER!

It didn't help that Toni and Mariah put on an absolute BANGER in the MIDDLE of the show to cap off their feud that overshadowed everything that came after. Needless to say, if you watch that match then watch the steel cage match between Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher later in the show, it perfectly illustrates how to and how NOT to use violence and blood in wrestling.

One was a match where the violence was earned by almost a solid year of good storytelling and great performances between the two ladies, and the other match was a wishy washy build where they went over the top with the violence and stunts in an attempt to COMPENSATE for the shitty build the match had and it just didn't work.

But yeah the main event was ASS.

We had Wheeler Yuta and Jay White come out to interfere, with Jay accidently clocking Edge (I refuse to call him Cope) only for that to NOT end the match and the two guys fight their way to the back, making their inclusion completely pointless.

Then Edge hits NOT ONE BUT THREE SPEARS in a row on Moxley...only for Christian to STOP Edge from winning so he can come in and cash in the AEW equivalent of the Money in the Bank briefcase. Of course he keeps trying to pin Edge only for Moxley (who remember just got hit with THREE spears only a couple minutes before) to put the COMPLETELY FRESH Christian in a submission that makes him pass out so Moxley can win. :whatisthis

Make ANY of that make sense for me please? Why the fuck wouldn't Christian wait for Edge to win FIRST, then cash in on HIM? Why the fuck, if you were going to make it a triple threat, wouldn't Christian bring the rest of his faction out with him to help him win. How the fuck could a FRESH Christian not break out of a submission (or at least reverse) from a beat down Moxley? This made Christian not only look weak but also come across as completely retarded.

And also what the fuck were the Opps (Samoa Joe, Hook, Katsuyori Shibata) watching this match in the crowd for? I would have assumed it was to prevent Christian from doing anything since they were feuding with him but they never ended up doing anything so I'm just left scratching my head.

All this to set up Moxley vs Swerve (who beat Ricochet earlier in the show, so much for the momentum his heel turn got him) for Double or Nothing or Dynasty or whatever. :smh

At least Swerve is an honest to God world champion contender whose not an old timer and who actually made his name in AEW. Hopefully it will be better than this DEBACLE but I'm probably expecting too much at this point.

Anyway to get away from the negativity and focus on what I did like.

Really hope these two are both all right 'cause that Hollywood Ending (Falls Count Anywhere) match really was brutal but justifiably so. It's a good sign that they were both able to stand (albeit with assistance).

These two put their all into this entire feud and I genuinely clapped when the match was over, it completely stole the show and I just hope (probably in vain) that AEW has something in mind for BOTH of them going forward. 👏

Honestly that's been a huge issue with AEW PPVs for the longest.
Because everyone has to get their shit in, matches go on for way too long and it basically tires people out as hard as WWE's Wrestlemanias before it got changed to 2 Nights without any reason to(WWE's issue was less everyone having too much match time and more too many matches overall combined with the obvious break times inbetween) while AEW has virtually no real break times between matches at all.

Me, Never, Nihilus and Blade watched 3 of them before... never, fucking, again.

Yep too many matches, that go on too long, with nowhere near enough story to justify them being there and with little to no time to breath in between matches.

I mean we cut from Toni Storm and Mariah May laying bloody and spent on the ground after their match, STRAIGHT into the preview for Kenny Omega vs Konosuke Takeshita with nothing in between.

If it were not for the couple stories I am invested in like Toni and Mariah, MJF and Adam, it would be VERY hard to convince myself to sit through these things every time.

Just here the main event was a whole new level of moronic booking that made everyone involved look bad. Never mind the fact that having the world title main event the show when the Death Riders have been pretty much UNIVERSALLY PANNED and it's currently the most hated aspect of the entire company's programming BY FAR, baffles me.

Especially when you had an easy main event match in Toni vs Mariah sitting RIGHT THERE that people (including me) were saying should main event before the show happened and can now just turn to Tony Khan and say that "We told you so." :maybe

And Tony Khan will never listen anyway because he wants to be even more "one of the boys" than Eric Bischoff.
