Monarchs just traded Treeborn for their own in-theme Tribute fodder
The real tragedy is Monarchs being such a brainless Floodgate deck that makes every other Tribute Summon theme also Floodgates (Floo, True Draco)
Konami needs to just make certain cards locked to their archetype. Like you cant use the monarch floodgates unless you 1. dont have an extra and 2. control a monarch. I enjoy that monarchs were an anti-extra deck and I want them to stay that way
Don’t think Floo or True Draco use Monarch stuff other than maybe teching Eruption
What I meant was Monarch being a Floodgate deck became the definitive way of designing every future Tribute theme going forward

I mean, anyone of us with historical knowledge already knew this, every holiday has its origins and their misconceptions and we all know the holiday as it is right now is just a conglomeration of sterotypes and US born myths. It didn't, if anything I'd say VII remake was more at fault than XIII.
XIII is just the easy target because a vocal part of the fanbase decry it and they know people wont defend it as much.
Of all the potential suspects, XIII is probably the least at fault if it even is.
