I've never enjoyed the jokes in those shows. castlevania had some fun jokes in season one, but that was characters making fun of each other, until it derailed in season 2.

Wouldnt johnny get a say in it? like "hey, im not ok with saying this line. dante wouldnt say that." or was it a jake skywalker situation, where hamill objects against choices with his character and ryan says its fine cause its part of his vision.

it takes longer to rebuild a characters reputation. just look at captain marvel
I would doubt that Johnny got much, if any, say in it. The one thing I'm now glad of is that it WASN'T Reuben that was forced to say this in Dante's actual voice, though Nero wouldn't say anything so cringe either so it still can't be pleasant for JYB.

Oh I doubt the character's reputation will take much of a hit from this. Thankfully it's an adaptation and not a canon extension of the source material so it has no impact whatsoever on the games. This wont hurt canon Dante's reputation any more than DmC Donte did.

Good thing Netflix's Castlevania is not a canon extension of the main games source material.

"Who thought it was a good idea to make Sparda Trump?"

A politically obsessed moron that's who. :smh

Trying to make Sparda a BAD GUY is probably the only thing you could have done that is MORE insulting to the original character, than him getting beat and locked up like a bitch in the reboot.

And of course it's only bad to massacre the demons that LOOK human. It's not like the FIRST game in the series had Griffin, Mundus' general that Dante had enough respect for to try and spare him when he was injured, only for MUNDUS to be the one who mercilessly slaughtered him despite him still being willing to keep fighting? These respective traits for hero and villain being a significant part of what allows Trish to redeem herself.

The game that literally has about twenty minutes of cutscenes, most of it at the start and end and where story really is just an excuse to facilitate the gameplay, beats the shit out of Adi's crap in terms of moral depth. :jordangif

Antony Starr’s Homelander and now Sparda

For as much as they hate Trump, leftoids sure love making the most based character in the show be the allegories to him

:hestonpls

Not to mention the obvious Bush Era America shit with the Americans invading Hell being an obvious parallel to the war in the Middle East like it’s 2003 all over again

It’s time to move on, leftoids.

Even worse because, even in the show's context, Sparda's decision is 100% justified by the mere existence and intentions of Mundus.

By comparison, Adi must have thought he could get away with fucking over Lucia and making her a cameo who just gets caught and interrogated by the humans easy, because DMC2 isn't very well liked. Of course completely ignoring that Lucia herself (as a character) is probably the most popular element of that game.

The irony that she's a demon who lives with and chose to protect the humans who raised her, even after finding out that she's a demon and yet she's unfairly arrested and tortured over shit that has nothing to do with her. :maybe

It would almost be appropriate for his attempt to make the demon victimized minority, IF I believed for a second that it was deliberate and that the stupid fucker didn't even realize what he did there. :jordangif

Wait they actually made Sparda a Trump expy

Is

Is it because he built a wall

Did they actually go there
Yup. With Illegal alien demons crossing the border into our world with only pure intentions of wanting a better life for themselves and their family.

^ Because the above TOTALLY represents every illegal border hopper that comes to America and not the gangs, violent criminals, rapists, child traffickers, drug dealers, or literal human parasites that come to America to leech off our healthcare system and other taxpayer funded benefits for free without contributing a thing to society themselves

:maybe

All I gotta say is, Devil May Cry fans got a raw deal here compared to Devilman fans.

I have no idea how the fuck Crybaby managed to avoid ALL of this

:hestonpls

It's funny because you're talking about the immigrant allegory and it IS stupid, but I'm more offended by the character assassination of Agni and Rudra.

These two guys were chill, just doing their job of guarding this door and happy to have some company. They even took their defeat like men and happily offered their powers to Dante. How the fuck do you make these guys bloodthirsty killers when you're trying to paint demons as victims?

Also just as a reminder, Dante defeated them BEFORE he awakened his DT. Not that THAT was even a full DT, it was more akin to the Devil Bringer which is a Nero thing, I know Johnny's voicing him but come the fuck on. :tiredofthis

Because the Immortal loses just about every fight he’s in. He’s pretty much Invincible’s Yamcha

The Invincible fandom is being pretty damn honestly. Especially since ironically enough, he’d still effortlessly body Homelander too

:hestonpls

Why is The Immortal being so mocked now?

He isn't some unlikeable psychopathic asshole like Homelander aka John.
From what I've gathered (not having watched the show) he's not psycopathic, but he most certainly IS an unlikable asshole who has a lot of unearned confidence and talks down to the rest of the cast with very little real justification. Same as Dupli-Kate.

Homelander may be a man-child but at least he's the VILLAIN, you're supposed to dislike him and his psychopathy (combined with the actor's performance) are so extreme that they make him actually fun to watch.

Again I'm only taking what I've heard but, just because one character is a villain and the other is not, doesn't actually guarantee the non-villain is the more likeable character.

That too. I mean, it’s understandable after what Omni-Man did to that he’s obviously both not well in the head and has severe trust issues with Mark

But he still doesn’t need to be both such a dick about it and actually a hindrance to the rest of the team
