Death Battle Discussion

you know Spiral power basically binds all lifeforms and the universe?and basically the only reason why Avant Simon is able to go beyond his own world is because of the power of the other Simon?
i mean yeah sure, you can say you hate the outerversal scaling all you want, okay.

Their argument for TF Darkseid not being "outer" by their standards is that he fell into a lower plane of existence.

Meanwhile in the Drama CD people cross in both directions.

Taking the blog at any form of face value requires Spiral Energy to be an exception to their arbitrary definition. I.e. "crossing the boundary means you aren't outer....unless you did it with Spiral Power"

"Outerversal" isnt even a legitimate metric since its tied to each fictional verses setting. I just think it's funny that they spend all that time defining it and then give GL a pass around said definition

a energy that basically exists everywhere and everyone (minus clones)can use?

@Stocking Anarchy @Maddie

I'm gonna say this now before the match comes out since it'll either sound like condescension or sour grapes depending on the verdict if I wait, but I wanna apologize for how weirdly heated I got in the past few days about this matchup. Not really sure why this is the fight that got me invested, but in case I ruffled any feathers I want to make clear it wasn't meant personally.

Also specifically for you, Stocking, my distaste for the G1 Blog has absolutely nothing to do with the work you put in for the Triggerverse. Props to you for that :catsalute

The actual argument at the core is that Simon will win because he's outerversal and Kyle isn't.

They use the VSB definition of outerversal where it means "thing unreachably far above other thing as reality is to fiction"

They argue Simon qualifies because of the Drama CD, and Kyle and DC in general don't because......True Form Darkseid was able to fall into a lower dimension. And something cant be "Outer" if you can cross the barrier.

The Drama CD happens when a version of Simon literally does that and then gets sealed into his own dimension

Please let them try to use this unironically in the actual thing, the degree to which they'll be torn to shreds by the internet will be genuinely hilarious.
Unless I’m mistaken, didn’t the blog team give them equal stats for the whole stat trinity ultimately?

It sounded more like the Drama CD just made it even so the battle would come down to abilities to me. So by itself it wouldn’t have guaranteed Simon the win.

The thing that seemed more like the lynchpin for their argument was the Probability Alteration Missiles and their ability to attack at every point in time. With them bringing up Kyle in-universe being affected by a Probability Cancer that made it so he never became a ring-bearer, showing lack of resistance to that kind of thing.

As well as the Life Equation, even if it could potentially counter the missiles being very draining for Kyle to use its full potential to the point it could kill him, which he was only able to circumvent by splitting it amongst the White Lantern Corps.

i can forgive you for sounding condescending, it is hard to express emotions correctly through text

My problem was that the logic they used to justify that "equality" was completely inconsistent.

They used True Form Darkseid falling to a lower realm to say that he and people of his level couldn't be "outer" since if you could go from a higher to lower realm it meant the realms weren't separated enough to count for their definition of "outer"

Meanwhile the entire premise of the Drama CD is people crossing those boundaries, which somehow translates into them "outer"

They built a definition to exclude people like TF Darkseid and then gave Drama CD Simon a pass despite doing the same shit.

The whole thing read like they were building their argument for the express purpose of equalizing the cosmology as opposed to analyzing it.

Shrugs ok.

I find a lot of cosmology arguments to be kinda boring. I hope the Deathbattle itself is more about their abilities and who has the better counters.

then you can summarise it too "Kyle absorbs Simon power, but he has no resistance to absortion whatsoever, which allows Simon to absorb him, but then they both are fighting a endless battle of who absorbs who"

Same. cause alot of the time its like "okay cool your cosmology is bigger. now how do you win?"
