The Mars fight in particular got done fucking dirty, which is funny because the OVA that came out before the series animated a scene of the Mars fight FAR better than the actual anime did (complete with Mars actually saying the names of his spells, which they didn't seem to like doing in the anime early on for some reason).
Granted when the series hit, it fucking HIT HARD!
The only thing that was missing here was the Ultimate Battle theme from DB Super that was playing in my head when I was reading this part of the fight in the manga (no bullshit).

Ah so Austin fell victim to the anime trope of not setting his cards when he drew them. Aside from that, the mindfuckery of this duel kind of excuses the guy for losing when he really shouldn't have.
Still fucking weird that he of all people is the ONLY non-Judai character we see face Mr-T as opposed to the characters who have been there since season 1. The almost complete side-lining (or outright removing) of the OG side-cast for the new ones is EASILY the worst thing about GX from a writing stand-point.
Frankly only Johan and Amon should have been added, Jim and Austin's roles should have gone to characters who already existed. Like how much more impact would that first Supreme King duel have had if it were Tyranno (one of Judai's best friends) that seemingly got axed, instead of a character we basically just met?
