I kind of like "Sonic vs DBZ" matches, simply because they're giant autism vortexes with no end in sight.

OBD Convo #14: Mammoth Space Gods

Well, it's nice to know that Berserk is at least getting finished, although it does make me worry if the ending will be any good.

Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 1: OBD 2027 prologue edition

Of course it's Maddie that made sure the thread got to 4 pages. @Maddie what the fuck did you think you were doing there? Your neuroticism concerning the "Goku vs Superman" debate is genuinely unhealthy. Good Lord. Good Lord. While that is hilarious and all, a question I have to ask is, why did you involve yourself in these anti-Sera gay ops? Because, on all fronts, this is legitimately some of the gayest shit I've ever heard. Not unlike vs debaters on Twitter asking authors leading questions in order to fish out quote-mineable statements so that they can "win" debates. How little things change. It's increasingly sounding like you get pressed at the very idea of DC flying bricks being above solar system level, and that's, again, legitimately unhealthy.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind that either, given the kind of "macroverse" bullshit that tends to go on in comic book land.

Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 1: OBD 2027 prologue edition

Webcam Parrot seems to just be incredibly hyper-liberal with his powerscaling, even though he otherwise appears to be well-read. It leads to incoherent and self-contradictory nonsense like Hecate being stronger than the Presence because she embodies the "collective unconscious", which is equal to Dream, which is created by the Presence, despite apparently transcending and being able to reshape the Presence at will, even though he does everything he can to follow the Presence's rules for creation.

Never forget that Mordru is stronger than the Presence.

Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 1: OBD 2027 prologue edition

You can blame Webcam Parrot for that nonsense. This entire "X obscure cosmic comic book character is STRONKER DEN DUH PREZENS" VSB-tier trope basically started with him.

My decision to never actually "get into" any anime or manga made after the mid-2010s becomes more salient by the day.

I saw that one dude, Malomtek. He was a great fighter. It was like magic seeing him bring all that bullshit wank to a halt. Sadly, he's banned for three weeks because they couldn't handle his smooth moves, but I hope he goes back there sooner or later and wrecks them.

I think you should be multiplying the diameters of the universes involved, and then extrapolating the requisite universe volumes from them. It's likely they actually will take it seriously in some way, considering how "intersected" the researcher team of Death Battle, i.e. the "G1s", are with VSBW's general "sphere". The general vs debating sphere seems to be in a very "hyper-permissive" era - 90% of which I attribute to the craziness of VSBW - where everyone is (at least) universal, everyone has infinite speed, nothing is an outlier or inconsistency anymore, and liberal scaling is the norm. But here's the thing though: different interpretations, "debunks of debunks", the growing number of relatively prominent "VS YouTubers" who think that comic book "high heralds" are universal minimum, etc. It would be arrogant and frankly delusional to think that you could singlehandedly curb any of that, especially on something with as much potential for subjectivity, as it does objectivity...

OBD Convo Thread #4: never give up, cuz victory goes to those with courage

There's something I want to talk about for a long time, but never really felt motivated to do so until this video showed up. People are unironically arguing that the "End of Z", the literal original ending of the Dragon Ball manga, is no longer canon because something something Bulma looks younger in DBS: Broly. I can only describe it as part of some weird and cancerous fetishization of the concept of "canon" brought on by Super being called the "official continuation" of Dragon Ball Z. There are a(n admittedly small) number of people actually celebrating the supposed "de-canonization" of "End of Z", because then it means that Dragon Ball Super will finally have "real stakes" or something, which is just utterly delusional. At this point, I'm just hoping that Super ends on an exact 1-to-1 replica of the "End of Z", and that the end credits finish with "if you want to know the future adventures of Son Goku and friends, be sure to watch Dragon Ball GT", just so I can see heads...

Just wait until MHA gets true biggaton "cosmic" feats. People will be cumming over it again in no time.

Elric of Melnibone (MMM) vs. Lucifer Morningstar (DC)

I remember reading the Holly Black iteration of Lucifer a few years back, and that Black Sword that Lucifer carried against the "Dark" Presence was the same sword that guarded the Garden of Eden, and it was portrayed as super-powerful because it can cut through space and time. Despite most of the relevant characters involved in this predating or otherwise existing completely beyond space and time. Chalk this up to PIS and another case of comic book writers having no actual sense of metaphysical scale.

Unified Korea will be the rising superpower of our generation, the light of our dark times, the center of East Asia, and the economic powerhouse of the Orient. And soon, Korea, neglected for so long, will finally find its place in the sun of global powerdom. Who knows what secrets lay in Korea's ascension to glory? @Atem probably knows.

I'm thinking of keeping it simple. Posted this before in the Death Battle discussion thread, but here it is again, slightly edited from last time: Yeah, you should generally try to make your tiering system fit fiction instead of trying to make fiction fit your tiering system, if that makes sense. Something simple like: This should fit most fictions while accounting for various little idiosyncrasies in their cosmologies. >Has a commie symbol in his username >Quote tweeting a guy with a rose symbol in his username, because commie Twitter users love that >The art isn't even all that great to start with Yuck.

Been looking at the recent Dragon Ball discussions on Twitter and it's downright mind-melting how these people blather on about "canon". "OG Bardock is cooler than DBS Bardock." "OG Bardock isn't canon, therefore he isn't 'real' and isn't valid." And I'm just like "so what if OG Bardock is considered by nerds to be 'non-canon'?" :russ
