Comics are definitely on the decline even for kids. One of my co-workers has a kid who loves Naruto more than anything else though admittedly because he’s a fan himself and introduced him to it. That plays a part. The generation that grew on stuff like Toonami are now old enough to start families and share their interest with kids. That and cable is fading out in favor of streaming and weebs were watching all their shit online well before streaming took off so it was easy for things like Crunchyroll and Funimation to find an audience in anime streaming Same bookstore has only one shelf that lumps all comics not manga as graphic novels. DC, Marvel, Darkhorse, etc. I remember when bookstores actually separated DC and Marvel and had whole section for each.
