Potential upgrades for the OBD wiki pages

In about two months, I plan to cut off the old wiki and have us officially switch over to the new one over at https://wiki.battledome.org/ The current wiki keeps filling up with cached files of the existing pages, so that's why the existing wiki is currently down lol ran out of disk space... :tchpepe

I'll take a look when I get home. It's Joomla so anything and everything bad could happen with it at any given time lol that's why we're switching to the new wiki software.

Potential upgrades for the OBD wiki pages

Turns out, the current wiki chewed through 16 GB of storage space cause dumb Joomla stored a bunch of cached files for every single page :skully Basically, the server that the current wiki is now hosted on has 47 GB of usable storage and the wiki chewed through the rest of it causing things to not behave as normal. I'm clearing the cache now, but I do hope we can get the ball rolling with migrating these articles to the new wiki software and site cause Joomla is a dying CMS tbh.

Copy 🫡 Once I finish the setup of the new wiki, I'll create a little guide on how to access those articles. Then, when everyone is able to follow along, we can start to add, organize, and update articles/pages as we manually transfer them over to the new software.

This weekend, I'll drop a line here once I'm done setting up the new Wiki completely. It's up now just needs email configuration and backups and we should be good to go! New domain btw, outskirtsbattledomewiki.com will redirect to wiki.battledome.org once I'm done.

That was... a painfully easy transition lol wiki is back up again. Now we're going to need help on stage 2 which will require some assistance from any volunteers here. Stage 2 involves copying over all existing articles to the new Wiki software and site and making sure everything is up-to-date. Any takers?

Potential upgrades for the OBD wiki pages

Yo yo wassup gang. For the rest of the week, I'll be working on migrating the existing Wiki to our new host and sometime within the next couple of months, we should be fully migrated to the new Wiki software we plan on using going forward. The domain and wiki will also eventually change to wiki.battledome.org and we will also need help in manually moving all of the existing articles into the new Wiki software. It is a lot more modern and manageable than our existing solution, so I don't anticipate any real issues outside of the unforeseen technical difficulties that can arise at any time during any software migration. If you have any questions regarding the change in domain name or the new Wiki software we'll be using, please don't hesitate to ask!

Potential upgrades for the OBD wiki pages

Yo waddup gang! @Nevermind and I were discussing a bit of rebranding, aside from upgrading the Wiki to using the software I previously mentioned, and we wanted your input or feedback on this idea. Basically, we were thinking about rebranding the OBD and simply calling it "The Battledome". Ironically, battledome.org is available as a domain, and we do mention '"the battledome" or simply "battledome" more than we mention "The Outskirts Battledome" throughout the wiki entirely, so the rebrand at this point wouldn't be too confusing or sudden. Ultimately, this would allow the OBD to evolve and avoid those scenarios where people, such as those who shall not be named, from claiming ownership over the OBD entirely, which they have done countless times before. Other than that, of course, there would be more room for exploration and give us a bit of an edge over the competition, as we could easily transition the wiki to wiki.battledome.org and keep battledome.org as the main blog or area...

Currently collaborating with @Nevermind on potential changes that we're discussing via PMs concerning the state and future of the wiki. Additionally, I am testing an alternative wiki platform for possible migration, aiming to enhance the user-friendliness of managing, updating, and searching the wiki. Stay tuned for more information as we enter a new chapter of the OBD and beyond!
