    Avatars are pretty compressed in the postbit for some reason.

    Make the base 150 x 300, next up will be 180 x 360. This way both square and rectangular avatar people will be happy. At the lower end you can use 150 x 150 square avatars, at the higher end you can go to 180 x 180.

    The largest I have seen is 270 X 540 avatars.
