Yeah, though compared to most of Dbs I'd take Buu saga tier art. Honestly it's kinda crazy how much things did conclude given that almost nothing about the Buu saga was planned consistently. You can kinda see the moments Toriyamma felt that Gohan wasn't main character material in his eyes.

Yeah it just depends on execution for both. If shit gets too dark and people start dropping like flies and/or never succeed at anything then I have no real reason to care about the characters.
