I don’t have any problem with open setups in general. Whether I’d sign or not would depend on the specific setup though

I had my best mafia experiences with open setups - no claim games.

Fun to sit in the thread and try to guess who could have what role, but you are not allowed to speculate in the thread so you have another layer of micromanagement inside the thread.

Fun to be the cop and get a guilty result, because now you can ISO a player and spin everything they posted however you see it fit and fish for their mates due to their reactions and how they micromanage a push on their mate.

That's like peak mafia, but it also demands strict following of the rules and a good host who frequently checks for players leaking their roles, in case there are such scumbags playing.
