1v1, who is the strongest character Caime cam beat. Recent threads have made both series sound pretty interesting.

He can probably make it to the monarchs. He won't be able to touch the Abidan, Vroshir, or Fiends though. As for the monarchs their authority, much like a Sage, is powered by an Icon at that point. Which represents multiversal abstracts and concepts. Think it could override the curse. Since their authority would be higher than Gods.

How exactly does authority work? Is it like reality warping?

Well, at a certain threshold or Cultivation Level we see Sacred Artists develop a degree of will/authority. Until finally they gain an Icon once they meet the requirements for Sage. Though Heralds also have authority to a lesser degree. This to the point they are completely immune to any and all conventional and unconventional means of attack. Meaning regardless if it's technological or magical? It won't work at all against them if there is no authority or will behind an attack.

Basically, how some Nasu fanboys harp on about "mundane" means being useless against servants. As fallacious as that is because there is a lot of technology that could absolutely murk them in fiction because not all fictions are built the same. And there is a lot of technology in ficton not only indistinguishable from what they define as magic but also far superior to it. Except it applies to more than just conventional means in the case of Sacred Artists. Unconventional means is also subject to this rule. Any Sacred Artist, even if they have madra (spiritual energy), or even Soulfire (extremely refined spiritual energy that is much denser than normal and that can warp space-time to create pocket dimensions), can't effect a Sacred Artist that has any kind of authority.

Actually makes me wonder what a thread between Cradle wankers and Fate wankers would be like. Since it's basically servant immunity with no restrictions to conventional attacks only.

More on authority:

Icons, which represent an area of authority in the multiverse, exist in multiple Iterations or universes. Not just one.

Monarchs like Northstrider can absorb the authorities of other creatures. Even ones like dragons which are a constant across the multiverse.

All things associated with a person with an authority, or an Icon, becomes effected by it. This includes any armor or weapons that person has made, and even their entire bloodline. Just by association to that person. Not due to genetics, but because Icons are spiritual programs and the multiverse is like a giant computer.

Authority is also highly specific and dealing with the Icon. For example, if you had the Florida Icon? You would have complete control over all things associated with Florida.

More on that here.

Even Herald level characters are functionally immortal and completely indestructible against anything that doesn't have an authority or a will. For example, all environmental hazards do not effect them because inanimate objects can't have a will to begin with. Say for example drowning. They can't drown because water doesn't have an authority over them or a will to use against them. This applies to everything. Conventional and supernatural.
