Now we got MHA downplay to show how stupid the Naruto downplay is...

Seriously, I have no idea how SB thinks this is fun or general debating. The only places I know that do this are usually seen as shit debating areas anyway(Reddit, Tik-Tok, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube) so how in the hell is this supposed to be "fun"?

Because at the end of the day, this is just a hobby people do to wind down the time and shoot the shit. It ain't supposed to be that serious. Get it the fuck together guys, there's a reason any actual VS. Community worth their salt uses High Ends and Low Ends TOGETHER and Feats Over Statements for precisely shit like this...
Because otherwise, all you will have is Downplay Central and nothing else.


Something I've been generally confused about with these Naruto speed debates is... why do they only happen with Naruto? The analysis of parabolic arcs in jumps, the ability to hear things limiting those things to below the speed of sound, sound based attacks being limited to the actual speed of sound... they're valid interpretations of feats, but they're also basically ubiquitous in media since authors aren't physicists and mostly aren't trying to cater to Vs Debaters.

As pointed out above there's a ton of the same "issues" with MHA, and there's surely way more if the same amount of rigour was put into analysing low end feats, but it doesn't have nearly the same militancy that derails basically any thread about it.

Anytime someone wants to wank a series, it happens. In all of our years of covering Spacebattles, this is practically the impetus of every single series that doesn't take place in a stomp match because surprise, surprise:

Spaceba- no, Downplay Central lack critical thinking skills.

Authors aren't physicians and care for VS. Debates? Well no fucking shit, Sherlock, any VS. Forum that's worth their shit usually has that at the front door which is why downplay attempts are usually laughed off the stage in any real reputable site. Most VS. Debaters know that Authors aren't physicians, know about how our universe works or may even be smart enough to know how their own abilities work.
This is where the constant coddling ultimately gets you at: A Forum that constantly can't debate worth a damn so they do the only thing they can... downplay the shit out of something and ignore it happening in their own series because they can't understand how shit their argument is. This is why we, VSB and other sites laugh at you. I'm not even a fan of VSB and they are far more stable than you could ever be which is just real sad.

personally, as someone who used to be on the supersonic side of the naruto debate, im more critical of naruto speeds than i am of mha speeds because i can think of clear cut examples of supersonic movement and such in MHA and i just don't get that with naruto.

like here's a showing of speed for shigaraki, someone whose low ends were brought up by revenant.

look at that shit, it looks and feels fast AF. but characters like pain generally don't have anything like this afaik... there's guy, lee and haku but all 3 of them are using special techniques for there speed and people don't really scale to them outside of like. god tiers.

I know someone in that thread pointed it out and yeah, MHA is EXTREMELY guilty of this... but just because something LOOKS fast... doesn't mean it's fast. That's one of many reasons why unironically Fate fans actually don't like UFOTable because they tend to make the fights between Servants look slower than they are canonically(When not making ridiculous fight scenes for the sake of it).

That's precisely the problem with people being terrible in terms of actually debating shit, because they aren't using their heads, they are using their heart and their heart tends to be real stupid:

Is ultimately nothing to what we see later Ninja do in the series because that's how you do it, you actually scale and realize that the characters get stronger, faster, better and still end up keeping up with the myriad of shit they have to deal with, not because it looks fast(Because as someone stated in that thread, you have KIZARU in OP Animation looking slow despite him being literal LIGHT, it's obvious as shit that it's meant that he is Lightspeed, but the animation is obviously going for tension, not for realism)

Nah it's more like Grimm thinks the recent anime episode has vindicated his Byakuya downplay 'cause he couldn't take out Hisagi bare-handed or block zanpaktou indefinitely.

Of course that's ignoring the facts that Hisagi was using BYAKUYA'S Zanpaktou which was actively fighting against him due to Pepe's Love, making it impressive that Byakuya even blocked it at all, or the fact that Byakuya couldn't even risk attacking Hisagi without killing him.

Basically it's just Grimm being full of shit and thinking he's proving a non-existent point as usual.
