Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 5: Diamonds are fleeting. Stupid lasts forever

Anime-only One Piece is a miserable experience, especially once Dressrosa hits. Reading it weekly is fine for the most part but lot of the current story IMO is best enjoyed when you're reading it in bulk

Which reminds me that I never finished Egghead so I should really start catching up :mjlol

I would just put in that I personally think One Piece is meant to be enjoyed more as a manga rather than a weekly anime.

The show extended parts of it to the point where it got boring just to allow manga to catch up, but if we compare manga alone then One Piece is leagues above the rest of HST in just about everything.

It's like Flowering states, the Anime fucking DREGS on to the point I wonder how that shit stays on air with how bad it meanders.
And even the Manga is better for flow, it's still better off read in bulk as I had to drop it quite a few times due to that(Dressrosa really got me).

Well, I'm not gonna disagree since I personally wait for an arc to end before picking it up rather than reading it weekly.

But I still consider it heads and shoulders above the rest of HST.

No you ain't the only one. I have consistently put myself on record for how much I went from loving Mahashi Kishimoto's work and being a HUGE Naruto fanboy(Part 1 Naruto) to absolutely believing the man is a hack and a fraud(After Naruto Part 2, Samurai 8 which I swear I will finish and Boruto) and just want him to stop writing entirely altogether.

Eichiro Oda, meanwhile, I respect the guy but I think that the wank people give him goes WAY too far to the point that I legit cannot see what others see.
This doesn't mean I don't enjoy One Piece when it gets good but for how long it drags, it inevitably kills my interests especially when he tries to do big reveals to really obvious shit(Like him dragging on for 2-3 chapters why Davey Jones wants to destroy Fishman Island so bad... when anyone with a pulse knows he has no actual reason and is just a machine of hate created by the circumstances).

I ain't saying Bleach is perfect and shit, it has flaws and plenty of them but I do believe people go way overboard with Bleach's flaws vs. Naruto's and One Piece's and me and Blade tend to really enjoy Bleach despite that fact and are massively anticipating the 3rd Season next month of TYBW.
I genuinely like Ichigo as a protagonist and see him as Number 1 of the HST and Top 10 of current Shonen Jump(only losing to Asta and Edward Elric).
Isn't Full Metal Alchemist from Monthly Shonen Gangan/Square Enix rather than Shonen Jump?

Also I wonder if part of the reason why I think Bleach feels like the most interesting or tolerable series in the HST right now to me is because the character designs seem more polished, refined, and appealing than both Naruto and OP's by comparison.

And because Bleach's anime already technically ended a while ago, outside of an ongoing brief continuation of the series with that "Thousand-Year Blood War" arc and some spin-off animated by Studio Colorido (one of my favorite anime studios tbh)?

And the fact that the series isn't currently shoved into our faces and down our throats nearly as much as Naruto and One Piece when it comes to whatever mainstream anime/manga are being advertised nowadays?

Yeah but people see it as a Shonen anyway(still has the typical conventions and it definitely isn't a Seinen).

I would say the reason for me is that Tite Kubo never goes up in his own ass nor tries to INTENTIONALLY drag things around. It's also obvious he sees how he did the Manga version of the TYBW arc as a massive failing in plenty of areas and is basically fixing it big time, which earns alot more respect than other series that tend to stick by their dogshit endings(Attack on Titan).

I don't remember Boruto being forcefully advertised but whatever lol.

One Piece > Naruto Part 1 > Bleach > Naruto Part 2

Just pretty much how I've always viewed the HST. Sure they all have obnoxious fanbases but I don't let those determine how I view a series, I judge them on their own merits.

And yes people who act like only the most mainstream series are worth watching are annoying, but frankly so are people who dismiss Shounen as a whole as tripe or "generic" as if NONE of them are good which is just nonsense.

@Xhominid The Apex And to reiterate, I just think Bleach's character designs just seem more interesting and cooler than Naruto's and not as much of a disproportionate mess as One Piece's.

Well my point is whenever you think of mainstream anime/manga that's still being advertised and propped up for normies everywhere, you see One Piece and Naruto getting way more of the spotlight than Bleach nowadays.

Bleach doesn't seem as heavily advertised or spammed into my face these days. Look at what anime characters they chose to represent the 2021 Tokyo Olympics for christ's sake.

And good god, remembering the terrible disaster that was the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, let alone looking at that pic just hurts my eyes and makes me cringe incessantly.
So much so, that I don't even wish to put the

Well for me, it's not ALL of Shonen on a whole per se, that would be an unfair generalization and quite the awfully broad stroke to draw and brush them with.

But rather Battle Shonen.

Contemporary ones from the HST era and onwards especially.

I would argue it's still an unfair generalization and broad stroke to paint, even if we're limiting it to Battle Shounen. There are and have always been good ones and bad ones just like any other genre (or sub-genre in this case).
Contemporary ones from the HST era and onwards especially.
Like I acknowledge there's some stinkers and that two of the three HST series (Naruto and Bleach) turned to shit by the end, with several modern ones actually topping them in terms of downfall (which is really saying something).

There are still good ones though, there're just less of them than there used to be.
