Death Battle Discussion

As someone who watched the anime as a kid, but has only recently started to read through the manga, I don't think it really matters but I would advise going through the manga first and then watch the anime.

Not only does the manga give you more insight into each of the characters, making them even more likable than their anime counterparts, but the anime elected to skip passed the first 58 chapters of the manga. This is because the manga was originally much darker than the anime and was focused on games in general with the idea of Yugi punishing bad people by putting them through shadow games and hitting them with often fucked up penalties.

Basically you miss several key events if you start with the anime or when they are shown (such as episode 1's duel with Kaiba, which is actually adapted from their second duel in the manga) they don't have all the build up and gravitas that went into them originally.

Of course I still heavily recommend the anime after you finish the manga, because the other Yugioh series (GX, 5D, ZEXAL etc.) all follow after the ANIME as opposed to the manga. Never mind the fact the anime is still great in it's own right, with its two filler arcs ranging from pretty good (virtual world arc) to one of the best arcs in the entire franchise (waking the dragons).
Doesn't season 0 exist?

Imagiine if Yugioh and its sequels followed the trend of season 0 where it was all mind games, shadow games in 5Ds with Dark Signers would be cool

It does but I'm not sure how much of those chapters it actually adapted, hell some of the episodes I remember watching had no basis in the manga at all (like one where a guy steals watches). It's also not an entirely accurate adaptation of even the chapters it does choose to adapt from what I remember.

I would still recommend starting with the manga over it.

I mean it's an interesting idea but I truly believe the series is better for going all in on Duel Monsters, the story just seems to flow better whenever it's involved for me.

Fight was good but it kind've had the same issue as James Bond/John Wick where the camera would shake and jumpcut so much during the fight where it was hard to tell what was going on. Also the movements at times were a little jankey not for Michael or Jason but one of the campers they killed had a strange run cycle. Kind've like a 3d hanna barbera character.

Nothing bad but could've use more polishing and a 2nd pass. This definitely wasn't a mocap fight. But the kill was great and the interaction and fight was written well I liked the easter eggs. Didn't feel forced.

Ash strongest team would be:

Pikachu
Xharizard
Greninja
Lucario

Then like 2 random mons like Goodra, Snorlax, etc

I haven’t been keeping up with his current team but would Dragonite or Gengar be contenders for strongest pokemon?

there’s also Infernape (whose blaze is like an SSJ power-up) and Sceptile one of the few of Ash’s pokemon that holds his own and has defeated a legendary 1v1
