Death Battle Discussion

Aside for speed, which is a disgusting disparity admittedly, wouldn't Sentry have most advantages? DB would have him at thousands of times universal and is a hax machine and nigh-unkillable.
Pretty sure IWD have stated sentry to be a cosmic cube tier fucker at his peak so...

Personally I do think they should have waited until Saitama shows an upper limit to his strength because what he acts like in times of actual desperation or how he acts or what techniques he uses when pushed to a corner is completely unknown so however he's written in his final moments before Popeye pastes him into a oblivion is gonna seem wildly out of character by definition since we've only ever seen him bored in a fight.
Saitama's transition is essentially going to be
Pre-Spinach

Post-Spinach

From a Death Battle Cast last year they had Saitama vs. Popeye and even then uninformed without research Popeye completely sweeped their votes because of how batshit crazy his feats are (the twitter polls leaned more in Saitama's favor but that's more due to NLF wankage from OPM fans)

@Claudio Swiss
Their statement about the match-up (this is from late September of last year):

Chad: "We should do Popeye."
Ben: "Absolutely. I would love to do a Popeye episode. I've seen Popeye vs Saitama suggested several times. I don't necessarily know if that's the best match-up for both of them, I'd actually love to hear from you guys (the chat) about that if this seems like the best because obviously Saitama has more to him then what we just talked about (one-shotting Boros' planet busting attack). It's possible this match-up is a lot closer than we're saying right now, if this seems like the match-up for both those characters let us know on Twitter, I'd love to hear about it but if there is a better match-up- because I want to bring both of these characters into Death Battle but both of them are so tricky."
Chad: "Yeah Saitama is very tricky we've talked about that so many times."

That was scaling to Molecule Man, but IIRC that version was much weaker and was like universal to multiversal and he moreso outhax'd MM at his own game than brute forced him

Sentry still wins pretty big time but it's not *that* level of stomp

"ThAt's WhY he's CallEd OnE PuNcH-Man."

It never fucking ends.
And Saitama has NEVER been called One Punch Man in-series!

I guarantee you that anybody that calls Saitama "One Punch Man" or thinks he is a gag character don't read the fucking manga and just go by memes! If you asked them "Why is Saitama so strong?" They would say because it is his gag. He has a serious explanation for why he got so strong, for fucks sake. He didn't beat Boros in one punch, or Garou! It doesn't matter that he was holding back in those fights, if has "gag" was one punch win, he would have done that.

Popeye vs Bugs Bunny would be a more fair match-up too tbh.

But this fight is heavily requested. So I guess they are willing to do it.

“Saitama just kills Popeye before he eats his spinach and/or steals his spinach”

  1. Pretty sure there’s a rule that necessitates both characters need to be at their strongest for Death Battle, so nothing anticlimactic like this will happen.
  2. “lol just blitz and one shot” isn’t an in-character tactic for Saitama.
    1. It’s a running gag in OPM that Saitama usually allows his opponents to rant about their motives and power up into their strongest forms, before punching them into oblivion.
    2. Saitama longs for a challenging, exhilarating fight, so he wouldn’t deny an opponent the chance to power-up.
    3. Even if Saitama did one-punch Popeye before he munches his spinach, Toon Force Regeneration comes in clutch. He’ll just revive, eat his spinach, and proceed to clobber Saitama.
  3. Saitama does not know the properties of Popeye’s spinach, so there’s no reason he’d think stealing it or blitzing Popeye before he munches it would be necessary. Also, Saitama engages in combat with casual indifference, so he wouldn’t be vigilant enough to worry about Popeye’s spinach before he eats it.

and they are also technically owned by Warner Bros too.

They could keep this going unless other companies are gonna go after their asses.
