Because death battle is an official web show? Ya need footage and shit for rundowns and analysis and to give a good idea how a character fights ya can't do that when most of 40k are primarily from the novelsI mean, not having footage for stuff hasnt stop people from making fan animations for shit before, why would it stop death battle?
Eh Shiggy gotten his fair share of Hits and only thing carrying Mahito was his RegenCompletely ignoring the statistics that gave Shigaraki the edge in almost everything besides survivability over Mahito. And by a huge margin at that.
The animation itself didn’t really reflect that all. Mahito was firmly in control for like, 90% of the fight.
When he went into his Spirit Body of Distorted Killing, he was just styling all over Shiggy and his Domain Expansion required AFO to bail Shiggy out of and if it weren’t for that, the fight would have been his.
Just funny to think about.

A character's stats in a battle isn't static. Like people always mention Goku vs Superman, and yes Superman would win that fight easily at full power, but Superman isn't wtfomegaversal every moment he fights any waking soul. He can give as much as he can take, but it requires more and more of his full effort to do it, and he rarely is ever going that far until absolutely necessary unlike how versus debating brainrot makes it seem; there can be whole years where he is getting pushed around by less impressive stuff but it actually is giving him some strain. I don't mean just attack power here, there have been tons of fights where he's actually feeling pain from the enemy who clearly doesn't scale to whatever lolversal Superman scales to at his peak It is absolutely reasonable to see an animation of Goku vs Superman, especially in GvS3 where it's shown to be a good spirited sparring contest and not some life or death battle, and assume Goku vs Superman is a fight where Goku pushes Superman more and more until Goku reaches a cliff he simply cannot surmount but Superman easily can. Goku's ceiling passes Superman's floor, but can't reach Superman's ceiling which is far, far above Goku.
ChiefSlayer doesn't have that. Chief's ceiling is nowhere near Doomslayer's floor. Chief doesn't reach a level that would push Doomslayer to reach this cosmic level. It also can't be framed as some good spirited fight, Doomslayer is ultraviolent, angry, and aggressive. He will slaughter Chief.
There's also no curiosity in this fight. It was a shocking twist for some people that Asura, with his blatant feats, actually would lose hard to Kratos who relies on lore scaling. At least in Joker (Persona) vs Giorno (JJBA), Joker might have been far infinitely superior but Giorno's Golden Experience Requiem was such a major roadblock that made people have to spend a few minutes to look for if Joker had something that countered it, which he in fact did, but the effort to find something was still there. Spawn vs Ghostrider was another episode with a clear stat disparity, with Ghost Rider being scaled to omniversal and Infinite Spawn just being infinite multiversal, but there they actually flipped the script and showed Spawn could bypass this stat disparity with his godly level regeneration and ability to survive the penance stare and even do his own.
Furthermore, Chief is the cool calculated one while it's known Doomslayer is a berserkerous blood knight. This dynamic of cool vs berserk is fine in other death battles, like with the Kratos vs Asura animation, because Kratos was the stronger one and ultimately won against Asura's onslaughts, but Chief isn't going to win this.
Also Chief vs Shephard has better animation and thematic potential. Always has since 2016, especially Eternal. Hell, we could have had Broly vs Asura, give Doomslayer to fight Kratos (Both are angry godslayers), that way Broly vs Hulk wasn't so quickly outdated by how Marvel scaled Heralds way above Dragon Ball and Kratos vs Doomslayer is the fight of "Whose lore is better?" which isn't as controversial as making Asura lose.
Bro was getting first trolled and just a punching bag by the time they took it to the trainEh Shiggy gotten his fair share of Hits and only thing carrying Mahito was his Regen
Plus Mahito is the more skilled fighter in comparison to Shiggy
To play devil’s advocate for DoomChief far weaker characters than Doomslayer can still speed blitz/fodderize Master Chief iirc.
Like unless I’m misremembering couldn’t MGR Raiden
, or maybe even also the MGS4 version, low diff him?
I can’t imagine Chief has a lot of good matchups given how low powered he is for a sci-fi MC so you kind of have to focus more on what’s thematic than what’s balanced for him.
No I'm saying they should have never done Brulk. It's aged horribly, save him for Composite Godzilla who has multi scaling. They should have done Brosura which is what a lot of people on this thread were hoping for back in 2020.Still too soon for Broly to have another DB
Kratos and Asura was too thematic not to do, as much as I disliked it for the Kratos wank.
Commander Shepard vs Master Chief would have been absolute cinema. Especially for people gaming in the 2000s during peak Halo and Mass Effect
Nah, that fight was awesome. No I'm saying they should have never done Brulk. It's aged horribly, save him for Composite Godzilla who has multi scaling. They should have done Brosura which is what a lot of people on this thread were hoping for back in 2020.
Eh he was still doing fineBro was getting first trolled and just a punching bag by the time they took it to the train
Thing is Slayer is much of a lore bro as Kratos and Dante areWrote a critique about animation potential here. Of course technically the fight will look fine, but moreso I get why people think the animation potential will at least look unrealistic here:
Broly was an optionKratos and Dante have several potential matchups including between themselves
Asura was never going to get any matchup other than Kratos
Issue issue is Slayer had no one outside of Chief for a DBCommander Shephard would have been my choice for Chief.
However, Death Battle can't really be blamed for this match-up. They said they were going to do a rematch of whichever episode the fans selected and they voted for this one, so it was kind of out of their hands at that point; this is on the fans.
Doomslayer vs Master Chief
Doomslayer vs Samus
Doomslayer vs SMT Space Marine
Doomslayer vs Someone from WH40k
Doomslayer vs Sam Gideon
Doomslayer vs Issac Clarke
Out of all these matches you either gotta go with SMT or WH40k and Doomslayer and getting his shit pushed the fuck in fighting SMT so the best option would have been someone from WH40K
Doomslayer vs Guiliman
Both look the part, both were out of comission for a shitton of time, both use god/divine powers.
Correction that was Magnus who did thatway beyond that tbf (random Daemons that are far weaker than Ascended Horus/the Emperor can create universes in the Warp, for one), but yeah
