Death Battle Discussion

Shadow would win

Too fast and strong. Showed resistance towards mind control too so that lowers Mewtwo’s chances even more

What's the consensus on Spawn's stats?
Universe+ level. Multiverse+ level if he gets scaling from Satan who controls all 12 aspects of Hell (x12 universe level would be the level they would put him at)

realistically, power scaling wise, GR/Zarathos should be able to stomp still because of the marvel cosmology calc stacking they gave to Thor. Where he was hundreds of thousands of times universe level or whatever the fuck. Or yes they could give him scaling from Glaactus who they had at "infinite multiverse+" level because he fought Mephisto and GR>Mephisto

He also gets higher speed scaling and Ghost Rider's entire power set revolves around tormenting the soul and mind of his opponent with their sins and baggage and that's all Spawn has. Dude's guilty and angry and hates himself.

Logically it should go to GR unless Spawn got some crazy shit in the past few years (if it's possible) or if they fumble this with half-assed research (equally possible)

Also apparently Kratos vs Asura had THREE writers which could explain the quality. Especially since one of them was Ben who is...just not good with writing DB ironically. He's not terrible, he's definitely nowhere near as bad as Nick (Whose writing feels like he's embarrassed to be a part of this) and definitely not as bad as Sam (Who actively hates every episode and most of the characters he writes for and intentionally dunks on them and their fans because he thinks theyr'e lame even though he volunteered for the episodes he wrote for) But he doesn't really understand characterization and motivation ex. when Bardock said "My son could kick your son's ass" (a very noticeably ooc for Bardock to say) is a perfect example of how he just writes first draft dialogue and doesn't touch it up at all.

Kratos vs Asura is the sort of battle that gives the versus community a bad name in the eyes of casual viewers. God of War is one of Sony's most popular game series, countless people have played these games and experienced Kratos huffing and puffing, slowly trudging along massive hikes, and exerting a sizeable effort to defeat big beasts like the Kraken.

You put him against someone who casually performs interstellar feats of travel, obliterates a god who dwarves the planet and threatened to destroy it with a single finger, and is duking it out with a being who was visibly holding galaxies and Death Battle puts it...

Trying to sell the viewers that Kratos is the stronger of the two and actually this casual universe busting dude who zips around at speeds faster than light based entirely off what other characters in the series were said to have done... well, that's so far removed from how the series has ever portrayed him and from everyone's experience with the actual game that it makes this hobby look more ridiculous than it already is.

A ton of their casual audience are now calling them out for bias in the YT comment section because of how much of a stretch their reasoning is. It's that vs wiki trend of artificially inflating numbers by cherry-picking outliers and/or giving the most generous interpretations of everything that they end up losing sight of the actual character and their abilities. Their whole end-analysis was them realizing how batshit their explanation of Kratos sounded and trying to gaslight the viewers to ignore the fact that Kratos best feats are nowhere near as impressive as what they've given him, and then trying to pacify them with an alt-ending... which probably should have served as a sign to them that they took a wrong turn somewhere along the way.

Also doesn't help that the fight practically had Asura getting whooped for 75% of the fight
Having his strongest form getting no diffed by his own iconic moment is straight okay wtf are we doing here

My hope is that this fight and them being called out for stupid will cause them to have a shift back to a more reasonable approach, as opposed to VSBW wank fests for the sake of "giving the benefit of the doubt", because that's how you end up with Kratosura.

I'm just worried they will overcorrect and downplay less flashy JRPG characters.

Still wishing Chrono vs Luminary sometime happens

Who the fuck argues for multiversal mewtwo
:catwut:

It's the Dragon Ball effect, or as someone here put it...
Universe level is the new planet level for versus niggas looking to fap their fav character. It's almost comical that it only started happening after Dragon Ball Super dropped the Goku and Beerus clash and basically broke the community. It's like all these niggas were like, "Well, if Dragon Ball is getting it, then my pet verse should totally get it too!" common sense be damned, and lack of credible feats be damned. They gonna fap as hard as they need to, all day, every day, in order to justify that char or chars being on that level. :mjlol
I'd just change "universe" with "multiverse" as the "new planet level"

I think they should do what they did with Bowser v Eggman and separate the really big shit into its own category that is only part of the puzzle.

Like here's how the characters are on average, and here's the biggest shit they ever did thats like millions of times bigger than that.
