Dungeons & Dragons Feats and Lore General

After attuning himself to Artemis Entreri via Quivering Palm, Kane completely halts the assassin’s bodily movements. With a single word, he sends Entreri sprawling to the ground, paralyzed.

With a mere touch, Kane slays a Frost Giant in a single fluid motion.

He seemingly no longer requires his ring to use Quivering Palm at range, as he cripples Drizzt from a distance.

Kane turns completely ethereal to evade a dragon’s breath attack and can sense the exact moment a soul departs its body.

Kane rematerializes instantly, already prepared for battle.

He completely no-sells the effects of Charon’s Claw, a cursed sword that destroys its wielder upon prolonged contact. While an ordinary man would be consumed by it, Kane remains completely unaffected.

Here’s a look at Grandmaster Kane’s stats and lore from 1st Edition D&D, where he was introduced as a 16th-level monk, known as the Master of Spring, one of the highest-ranking members of his monastic order. Once the second-highest monk in his order, but out of respect for his master, he refused to challenge for Grandmaster of Flowers and instead resigned, taking a vow of poverty. Meditates four hours a day and trains for another four to maintain his superhuman conditioning. Rejects money, titles, magic items, and even a home, surviving only through menial labor and sheer discipline. Despite being 60 years old, he looks only 40, remaining wiry, muscular, and physically elite. Lives in Bloodstone, helping when needed but never staying permanently.

Here’s Grandmaster Kane’s updated 2nd Edition D&D lore and stats, where he appears as a 17th-level monk, still following his path of enlightenment and martial perfection. Raised as an orphan in the Monastery of the Yellow Rose, Kane became their most successful student through relentless training and self-sacrifice. He follows an extreme discipline of meditation and training, spending four hours meditating and four hours practicing combat daily. Took a vow of poverty, forsaking all wealth and material comforts, and survives by performing the most menial and physically demanding labor. Mastered spirit-walking, allowing him to project his mind across any distance or plane of existence, then physically bring his body there through sheer will. Briefly led the Monastery of the Yellow Rose after its leader's death but left once a new Grandmaster of Flowers was trained. Works as Spysong’s principal agent in Vaasa, using his Carpet of Flying and spirit-walking to travel across the desolate lands. Currently the only foreigner to be welcomed by the White Worm barbarians since the fall of Zhengyi. He gained their trust by using his martial prowess to defeat a remorhaz and proving his worth as an emissary.

Which book is this from and the page numbers?
Elder Evils, pages 7, 33-35, and 47. The rest of the book is also hilarious because there's a stupid amount of stuff in there that's responsible for D&D mauling the shit out of most other verses inspired by it. Going all the way from "decent country level feat" to "this character kills the entire setting if he wins" :skully

So how powerful is Atropus? :LioPringles:
For one, the aspect itself is in the low epic level range, so we're already looking at planet level in terms of scaling. Which makes sense, since Atropus is an Elder Evil, which already contribute heavily to said scaling.

Atropus drains the life of any planet it gets near, all while causing undead to rise the closer it gets, even raising those who had just died six seconds earlier. Apparently even the gods are unable to stop its progress.

Atropus draws its energy from the Negative Energy Plane, which contributes to it negating any potential life energy it may drain from a planet.

Atropus itself is actually a moonlet measured 700 miles in diameter, and picks up speed as it gets lower to the planet. Also, the text says that it's a floating head in space and not an actual celestial body, so any inaccuracies regarding astrophysics can be excused. :cat

When the Aspect of Atropus is slain proper, fissures appear on the moonlet itself, and the moonlet flies away from the planet, potentially taking any characters with it. Effects from its sign disappear as it moves away in the process.

Pretty sure there was an old calc somewhere that put Atropus at somewhere around small planet level via KE alone but I can't find it at the moment. Not that it matters since it already gets planetary scaling by virtue of being at the low end of epic level to begin with, not to mention the part about it draining life from entire planets.

Thanks bro! I learned of Atropus's existence and grew curious (I have a thing for big things in space).
