For me I have an absolute love of Antiquity to late Classical/start of the Middle Ages.
That is to say most of the Iron Age in its entirety:
- Akkadian Empire
- Old, Middle, and New Assyrian Empires
- Babylonian and Neo Babylonian Empires
- Median Empire
- Achaemenid (Persian) Empire
- Alexander the Great and the Diodachii Period/Age of Hellenism
- Parthian/Arsacid and Persian/Sassanian empires
- Roman Empire
- Eastern Roman/Byzantine Empire
One of the most fascinating sub-points in this wide period was also the Great Migration era from the late 4th to late 8th century AD.
