Actually there is something I wanna talk about
it is something called integrity. It is not often that I have like the chance to talk about this, but regardless. Mafia as a game is like very important to me, I love it a lot. More so than I imagine anyone else. I still often think back on games I played in 2015 for example and what I did there and why. How my play changed across these years.
So at one point I realised something, many people do not realise this sadly. Winning and losing only matters in certain contexts. The stakes of the game and the level of play, what actually happened in it. For example I lost a game recently, I was the n2 kill from the wolf team. I actually sorted them all correctly and even lynched 2 back to back. Too bad the rest of town was actually afk and only posted 5 times. So the game was lost in f3 after my death. So I asked myself? Does this loss matter? Well not really, the village did not play at all. How could I win this game, if the villagers don't show up to play it. Likewise I have seen afk wolf teams win games. Does it really count if the winning wolf team has 3 posts among them? You can't reasonably find them. Some people might realise that like not posting at all, might reward them victories, but do these victories really count? No, not at all.
They are as worthless as the play displayed. So where am I going with this? Well it matters a lot to me how I win and why. I could probably find 200 ways to cheat the game in spirit, but win which are completely legal. But these wins would be as meaningful as if I had just disappeared for 3 dayphases.
And here I see a bunch of people, well a wolf team, capitalizing on a bunch of headless villagers who can't really tell their head from their tail. So what to do? Should I take it up the chin? Accept that you guys simply do not care about the game enough to give it the effort it deserves? Maybe, it would definetely keep my sanity more in check. I am prone to aggression after all.
But a part in me wants to see you guys fail. It is precisely because you do not wanna spare the effort, that I try to give. You fall for the easiest libel, you endore openly cheating players like Alexis as town, you do not question narratives. And all in all, I would love to say certain things, but once I do people will cry foul and how much I insulted them. But nonetheless, people should be challenged on their view points more often and if I have to do it, then I hate sugar coating it. Too many times we engage in stupid hugboxes in this game and I don't like it. If we can't face valid criticism then, we are not made for a game that is about criticizing thought processes, manipulating people and the likes.
I also feel like people demand this surgical and often robotic play without fervor and spirit. I am personally not a fan of it, I think it takes the thrill out of the game, the entire enjoyment. And for what? So that we do not engage in 4 hour long shout matches? I mean I get why people dislike it, but anger is a common reaction to being challenged, to being called a liar and the likes.
So where I am at, mafia is slowly killing itself as game
